Hi everybody, Been using my Husky 395xp today on firewood. Went to switch it OFF and the saw kept running. I haven't had a chance to take a look yet, but are there any common issues with this fault on these saws ? Spud (Steve) any thoughts ? Many Thanks in advance...............Cheers, Med.

Steve, My 395xp arrived back on Friday at work, so Friday night I put the 24" bar and chain back on and went to start it as normal:blushing: Bl**dy hell there is some compression in it now:thumbup1:I can only start it with the decompressor in:thumbup: I have tried it this afternoon in 2ft piece of oak and cannot slow her down in the cut:lol: What rpm did the saw tach to ? Sounds nice ticking over with M/mod. Many thanks , I will let you know how she gets on , when this weather improves:001_rolleyes: Med Roberts.

Hi everyone, My vented log bags(2yrs old) have degraded, and the fabric sides have started to rip:sneaky2: when I refilled them this time. They were bought from a well known supplier with good reputation. Can you buy the same bags but with the "mosquitio" netting on the four sides (and floor) as this seems to be so much stronger ? What would be the best price on these ? Many thanks , Med:thumbup:

Wisecobandit-pics of the saw as asked. Serial no shows built in 2014 , sixth week. Stubby- my wife fell about laughing with your last comment :lol: But on a serious note I bought a brand new 560xp 18" bar begining of the year (due to scum nicking my 357) and I am delighted with it power etc... So when I thought of replacing the sthil 056av with a 395xp I thought I was going to be pleased also:thumbup1: Spud-what do you think about my compression reading ? I guess I just want to know that the saw is preforming as it should. Was thinking of replacing the knackered 24"bar and chain for a 28" set up, but Iam concerned about how it will handle this ..... Comments please...

Well that is the story I have had from the seller. But looking at the state of the bar(wear to the rails by the tip) I am not so sure?? That is why I was asking about the compression , as the 395's Ive seen preforming on you tube seem to fly through the wood in comparision(I know some are ported,modded etc) even the stock ones

Spud & every body, Firstly the 395xp is 100% not one of the Chinese copies and is the real Mcoy:thumbup1: I have bought a compression tester, and have attached a pic. After 4-5 drop starts I am getting around the 150psi mark:confused1: With your knowledge is this enough ? Considering the saw has supposedly only been used twice:blushing: Any other thoughts much apprieciated............

Thanks for everybodys help firstly. Spud-the muffler mod I was asking about was for my husky 395xp, Ive sold my trusty sthil 056av for the 395xp:confused1: Ive tried hold the saw up by the pull cord and it does creep down under its own weight SLOWLY. Ive attached 2 pics of the sparkplug. One side looks quite dark/black whilst the other side is a lighter brown colour. Having just bought the saw from e-bay , I haven't had the saw serviced. Having tried the saw timber I just thought it was going to have more torque. Iam going to buy a compression tester this morning , so I can let you know the figures:blushing: Once again thanks for all your knowledge:thumbup:

Hi Everybody, Just bought my self a second hand 395xp (9mnths old), I was wondering what would be an acceptable compression figure ? Maybe spud could help me out ? Does a dual port muffler mod make a big difference to the saws performance ? As I believe that they are heavily restricted for this country. Were do you buy these ? The reason I ask these questions is that when I tried it today (24" bar) , I was expecting it to be more powerful in the cut :confused1: Couldn't see a great deal of difference to my old 056 av sthil:thumbdown:

Spud(steve), What can be done to a husky 560xp AT for performance ? Ported , muffler mod etc ? Have you done any, and what results did you see ? I have heard people say to remove the mesh (spark arrester) from the muffler, is this correct and why ?:confused1: What costs would be involved in the above tunning ? thanks, Med.:thumbup:

Just to explain, if you take a look at my pic in opening post. The part in the pic is upside down. The plate with the air holes faces the fire/heat. The top plate is made of cast and is a good thickness. What my gripe is why is the lower plate (taking all the heat) so THIN. In order to clean any ash from the top of this , I would have to remove stove , top and then unbolt the two halves. Totally impractical:confused1: I dont see ash sitting on top of this as it is enclosed ie air wash box. Hope this makes sense:confused1:

The rated output of the stove is 6KW. For the record I have never burnt a lump of coal smokeless or not. The only fuel it has had is well seasoned hardwoods e.g oak,elm,sycamore,beech etc..(as recommended in user manual). :thumbup: I thought the idea of a logburner , was to give heat output but didn't realise that they must not get too HOT:sneaky2:. All seals are in good order (leak tested with paper). Chimmney sweep commented that the chimney was very clean for a woodstove. Are Morso better quality, paid extra thinking jotul were the best !

I should also mention, that when I had the stove apart. I also noticed that the back cast plate in the fire box is warped like a banana and a crack in the middle. I just hope that it is not going to move any more ? The stove has cast sides all around which I thought would soak up the heat Mediplogs, the house is very old (300 yrs) and the room in which it is situated is 20ft x 15ft .Ceiling 8ft. Would a stainless steel plate cope with the heat ouput ? cheers ,med.

Mendiplogs, Just what I thought. Are they just living on there name :confused1: Possibly a thicker baffle, could be made out of boiler plate ? to take the heat. Has anybody else got one, with the same issue ? Jotul and distrubuter put all the blame on myself:thumbdown: How can they sell such a product, with this design issue. Obviously they don't test there products very well!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Everybody, I purchased a jotul F3 logburner two winters ago, thinking that Jotul were the dogs ******** in burners(cost enough). But this year I noticed that the air/baffle plate had a hole in it :confused1: As there was a ten year guarantee, I complained to my supplier, in turn spoke to Jotul. The reply came back saying that I had the stove to hot:thumbdown: I complained saying that I used a flue theremomter, dried hardwoods and did not over fire the stove. After much complaining , they agreed on THIS occasion they would supply the part. What angers me is that the log burner has to be removed to gain access to the baffle via the stove top ! When I picked up the part, they let slip that another customer had the same issue. Have any other jotul F3 clean burn owners had this issue ??? When this one goes , I will be tempted to make my own replacement baffle, as the original is paper thin..........

Can anybody help me with a log bag supplier which have decent top covers to them. As the ones that I have in use now, barely cover to the edges, so allow water in:001_huh: Or can anybody recommend a poly-tunnel supplier ? What results have people had using poly-tunnels to store there logs ? Any other thoughts on keeping logs dry ?

Hi ,Guys Which out of the above saws, would be rated the best overall ? Taking into account, performance i.e cutting speed, torque etc... Also reliability ,weight, parts costs, price etc. I cannot see much between , them but I have not tried either........ :confused1:

Hi, I used to be a sthil fan but , this saws performance has converted me ! Clean chain oil is used through it......... Any Husky fans/experts have any thoughts ?
