  1. <p>Yes it worked as a good combo , the winch was a farmi 3t (very simple to service)not that it makes any difference! The most important thing was the winch was fully serviced and had a good clutch, I was amazed at what it would pull, often whole storm lodged and hung up 70ftplus beech trees the only problem was skidding but the tractor was quite effective especially on two wheels and steering with the brakes so make sure your fordsons brakes are up to scratch, often used it on bigger jobs with a case 78hp tractor that had big front weights but the simplicity of the IH made it a lot more monoverable , now I'm using a valmet 6400 with a Norse 5 tonne winch that the winch desperately needs a refurb , have better skidding power but the winch is nearly on useless and I wish I had not sold the old farmi! If your not on a budget a remote 3 tonne winch is what we are after , looking at The Riko ones at the moment.</p>
