welcome to the hc club mate.. i use a 70cm with fishermans. check out the `hitchclimbers guide to the canopy` on the treemagineer website, or taylor hamels videos on youtube.. if ya aint got a pantin then get one works perfect with the hc. sorry if its already been suggested.
been thinkin bout gettin ap next been on ov for a year or so wanna try it but is worth it fellas. climbing on tachyon mainlines and side strop

defo get a cambium saver, will help out alot.
hitchclimber. read the hitchclimbers guide to the canopy see what ya think.
try a short 8/12 inch lenght of webbing tube or cobra bracing webbing on ya lanyards too like the petzl ones have. works for me on conifers/ pines.. keeps the sap off it so i can use me normal distel without it binding up.

get on it. i use hitchclimbers /pantin
used to footlock the tail untill i tried a workmates pantin.. bye bye footlockin.
the pantin is predictable unlike my footlockin skills which for me was differant every time when wet etc..
one thing i do which id say defo do is put a wire gate etc in the hole to stop the cam poppin open whilst ya gettin used to it.
take it easy mate

point taken regarding needs must for money etc and of course the odd trip to the dump done it myself and still would..
last friday i drove past a silver transit with tree surgeon spewed over the side, two blokes, no ppe, 3 way ladder fully out up a spruce, no ropes or harness, roadside too, husky ground saw in hand cutting away, my thoughts, idiot hope u aint got kids. Insurance, no chance..
we went past on way home too see the results of ther `prune` one stub 6inch diameter foot long, and tears on the rest. mmmmmm nice.
maybe i should learn to switch of from trees, maybe i should think f**k em if they wanna get monkeys in its there money, god knows, but every time i see one of these poxy trucks with `tree surgeon` on the side and scap on the back held together with ply boards i get that sinking feelin, what damage they gonna do next. maybe im biased cause i spent nearly twenty hours chippin fly tipped waste left by the dids at milton in cambridge, and they got in me truck and had my 201t whilst i was doin it.
just for the record my great great grandparents were propa travellers with the old type caravans.
just reminds me that we got trees with van dam flat tops (Brandon high street in suffolk). pegs left halfway between points of growth and using spikes on prunes from the powerline cutting teams (Thetford to Mundford) road and dids and one man bands who are ruinin trees left right and centre.
Oh well makes me try harder to be better, learn and read more.
sorry for the punishment fellas, rant over, and breathe....

hi gutted for you fellas. I`ve known a couple of cases where fly tippers have been had up thru number plates being photed by the wildlife cams so gotta be an investment? Naughty but just chuck a c.t.v sign up when ya ring police. times are tight, dont think i did a dismantle all last year without someone having some wood of us.
take care fellas

hey,
so these distels, ive had me eye out for good supporting spikes for ages, tried loads but dont like any very much.
aint seen the distels in the flesh but well keen. on the net they look like they have a shaped plate to stop them moving round your calf, do they. Im after something with maxi support.
cheers

cheers dean your a star... did the bounce test today, long n short. def gave a bit more confidence.. did each leg individual even tho it had a self leveller system then self levelled the lot when happy with what they were on. will find some pad like materials at the yard tomo.
id rather climb but its horses for courses init. feel for the dude but u lads are right bout observation etc. self preservation all the way.
but, then again he might have been in a similar boat as me, can rinse a tree but new to mewps. newly ticketed for mewp, shite training, flat carpark couple of slews across a roof. have taken it slow and drained what i can from the more experienced lads/boss.
theres always so muchmore knowledge needed bout each task than taught or shown at training and poxy colleges think cutting.
hope he can get up a tree again without dwellin on a horrible day.
