  2. If you are looking for 'mapping' of roots using sonic tomography then the Rinntech Radix could offer some useful info on. It doesn't give info on depth in the same way as ground penetrating radar but does indicate which roots are connected to the subject tree - which gpr doesn't. The two in conjunction would be good from a geeky perspective. Where are you based - there are few users out there, I'm sure one is nearby. If that's what you were looking for?
  3. Hi all, Has anyone out there used this app? its available on android platform only. Looks good value but no idea if its any good. Any opinions to help me save my money would be appreciated. Cheers
  4. Hi David, coordinates need to be for individual trees as currently there is no capability to measure the ecosystem services for groups of trees. I gather this is because the calculations rely on species, height and stem diameter rather than canopy area or numbers of individuals in a group. Mike would be very happy to hear from you if you do have any data that could be shared, as well as hear any comments you may have. cheers
  5. The Open University are developing a new tree mapping database, named Treezilla, that helps calculate eco system services of trees. Its part of the open science project and aims to build up a comprehensive picture of all ecosystem services provided by all trees in the UK. Its developer, Michael Dodd, is keen to hear from any LA tree officers who would be willing to provide any existing datasets that can be integrated into the system. To do this he simply needs an xy coordinate, species and height. Unfortunately, at this stage, group polygon features can not be added. He would also be interested in any feedback users have of the system. Michael can be contacted directly at [email protected] Its a free system and I have found it useful in demonstrating the values of trees above their visual amenity ones. Apple and android apps are available and windows phone users could use the system via the usual web page. Here's the link: treezilla enjoy
  6. Hello all, I'd be interested to hear about any experiences/opinions that anybody may have of confirm as a survey and tree management tool. Thanks Dan Mac
