-

Aye worth a try

i think it was the weight on top of the length that was the problem. i too have had couriers bring me 8' planks but only up to 30kg.
i reckon this would be about 100-120kg.
Parcel monkey via DX have just sent me the nova dvr-xp lathe, weighed 100kg+ at 60 odd £ bud.
But i wouldnt recommend them. Nothing but trouble
-
Ive sent 8-9ft post through when before.
When you pop the length in, itll say its to long for said couriers click here.
Click and a bunch of companies that can take it will pop up

A good piece here about pricing your work, by Robin Wood - bowl turner and Chairman of the Heritage Crafts Association.
Thanks also seen a local (within2miles) turn explain on his site he charges by widthxdepthx2
-
once you get yourself going it's not that hard, although it may be more apt to state that it's not too hard to turn, but it's hard to turn well.
lets see your first attempts too as most people don't want to put pics of the for anyone else to see but i'll show you mine if you show us yours...
Lol yeah ill be posting up my first attempt, i can only learn from others as they can from mine.
Got lime ,sycamore etc to trial out on

Hi Dan
Thanks for the positive comment. I look forward to seeing your work on here shortly. Have you got your new DVR-XP set up yet?
Should be with me on tues Pan. Currently getting blanks made up and on the hunt for burrs lol.
Really do like your work and how youve turned them.

Great job Pan. I hope to turn as good as all the fellow turners on here 👍👍

£46 with 14mins to go
-
A nova is all that lol.
But you can get a cl4 for less than £900-£1000
-
Lol bob theres loads of them out there. Guess it just depends what u want to turn and what your maximum working sizes are.
Did you keep an eye on that other nova dvr-xp ? Last i saw was at £1000
