Did I hear this right? you guys have to have some one else inspect your gear? Man, either we don't have these kinda regulations in the states or my work just doesn't give a sh*t, well I know the second part is true anyway.

Yeah I think they are a big craze since the pixar/disney movie tangled came out. floating lanterns are realy cool but I think traditionaly they were tethered to the ground. geuss we know why.

yeah it is a bit soft, but it's great for outdoor furniture as it is resistant to bugs and to rot. also as a finish wood 'cause it looks so good IMO.

I'm really surprised at people's reaction to free climbing. thats right free climbing or soloing or leading or whatever ya'll wanna call it. even if it's in the work place. I'm not saying to be stupid. it's obviously dangerous to climb very high with no ropes. I do it but only if I feel I can handle it. I also free climb all the time at work. some trees are just impossible to set lines in because their so thick. 40 foot pin oak I did yesterday was like that. jap maples are pretty sensitive so I'll usually grab my little hand saw, ditch my boots and climb those bare footed. I think people are becoming too sensitive we can't bubble rap everything nor should we. and if you don't agree, then let us "stupid" people do our thing and kill ourselves off. ok I'm done ranting, sorry I just realy like to free climb.

Redwood is great timber man, mill it up.

I love to free climb, I've been doing it since I was a kid. but it's not for everyone. I'm sure we'll see many more posts saying it's crazy but whatever. If your confident you can do just about anything.

Planes I thought is part of the latin name, Planus Occidentilus or something like that otherwise known ans american sycamores.

I started climbing after an arborist friend of mine took me up in a tree, I was hooked. I immediatly called several local tree company's and got a job as a ground guy training to be a climber. I climbed just about every day at home practicing, then switched to another tree co. Since then I've climbed every day at work.
