  1. Hi all. After my recent thread i have decided to trial a Mitox 5020. Not a pro saw but a firewood saw plus. Instead of the 20 inch as standard, i specced an 18'' bar. I was going for the 62cc model i picked the smaller one due to weight and a more suitable for my needs. The saw is 3hp with a max revs of 10000 so no screamer. Oregon bar and chain. Walbro carb and Japanese electrics. Comes with 2 year home user warranty. Price £199 For its size of engine its heavy. Hopfully lower revving and heavier than normal will make it reliable. Initial impressions are reasonable plastics and build. A tad heavy. Well balanced. Picked it up late today so no time to try as yet. Will give it a run out tomoz. Will keep you informed. My results will be based against similar sized saws. HUSKY 353, 346XP and my first saw 350 the latter the most similar. Watch this space.
  2. Its on the bay for £279 plus post

  7. Hi all. You guys were not keen on the Mitox saws with a two year warranty. Got my eyes on a three week old Echo Cs600. Alternatives for similar money are 5 year old well used 372 xp Brand new 353 husky or two year old 357xp What do you guys think?

  11. Whatcha got for sale then Spud? Been over to the local dealer who sell Stihl as his main saws. He has stocked Mitox as there was a need for a cheaper range. I spoke to the boss/mechanic/salesman. He was worried about having the Mitox saws always being on the workbench. He told be so far he has'nt had one with a fault. He has used them and he was surprised how well they ran and cut. Most of the sales have been for the 62cc model fitted with the 24 inch bar. I will contact him tomorrow about a sale. Decisions decisions!!! I could do a review with updates.
  12. Puts you in the Husky 235 price bracket 2.2 hp now that is gutless
  13. 4.5 horse is not gutless. Not saying i am buying one. They must hold some faith with a two year warranty.
  14. Just be a big firewood saw. 2 years domestic warranty. Equivelent Husky double the money. Just thinking aloud-!
  15. Hi everybody. Has anyone tried a Mitox chainsaw?. The biggest is 62cc and 4.5bhp. Bit on the lardy side at 6.5 kg. 20 inch bar. Price £269
  16. Bit barking but did you ever sell the 7901
  17. Whats the big deal with Xp saws. From plenty of experience with strokers. High tune means lower reliability and peaky. Take for instance a kawasaki 750 triple agains a Suzi 750 triple. Suzi would last forever in comparison. It it market hype for people with little weaners!!!! Oops-
  18. Ringing up!!! What the u k is that

  22. I was talking about the 361. In compariaon to that you do
  23. Hi. I have had both. Liked both, wish i had specced the 346 with an 18 inch bar though. I think the Stihl suited me better as it had more grunt. No need to rev the nads off it!!!!!
  24. Hi all, in your opinion which are the best saws in 50cc and 60cc or there abouts Things to take into consideration are Price Value Reliabilty Parts price and availabiity Weight Handling Resale value Looking forward to your veiws

    Echo chainsaws

To be honest i dont know why i put the question up. Its a no brainer. 15 year old Stihl against a brand new modern Echo with only £55 difference in price. Obviously the Wcho is a tad more. My only concern is although all the 50cc saws have been good and little screamers. I liked the Stihl alot. 60cc and much more torque. Do i get another 50cc or spend more pennie on another 60 cc saw? The latter holds preference unless you guys can convince me otherwise!!!!
