Hi boys and gals, I have just bought a tipper and chipper. I am not going at this full speed at the moment. It’s going to be a slow burner for a while so I can’t jump in the deep end yet with public liability etc ‘arbor risk’. Who can I insure the chipper and tipper with for now?
many thanks -
Thanks for the advice and ideas, titan bulldog clamps look great. Not with the chipper at present, got conflicting wheel sizes of a TW 280 TDHB? Anyone know? Cheers
-
Whats a good wheel clamp on the market that would actually work if someone was trying to nick your chipper? Any other economical deterrents welcome.
Cheers

Training requires you to meet the standard and obviously you need to be well versed in the assessment schemes to be able to get your candidates to the required level needed to pass. You wouldn't need formal qualifications to train someone, as long as you were showing the correct steps. Best bet would be to find a local training centre and see if you could get some support.
To become an assessor you need to be technically evaluated by a technical verifier from City and Guilds. As stated, you need to get 4 or 5's out of 5 in a number of different categories. You then need to complete a standardisation event and complete an assessor course.
PM if you need more info
Do you not need a teaching qual to train in a college?

The camp gyro swivel is the best solution I've found. Keeps everything oriented nicely with no twisting.

The thing is the potential subbie is unlikely not to already have all the required PPE I would have thought ?
Well of course, but renewing your boots, trousers etc multiple times a year can be a sting
-
I heard on the grapevine today that in recent time legislation around PPE and sub contractors has changed. As in if a sub contractor works mon-fri for a company, that said company has the duty to supply the subbie with PPE. Does anyone know anymore about this? Thanks

great stuff thanks for that

No there's another bloke on the Arbtalk website pushing a podcast about how his company failed and he rebuilt it again. He's also offering a consortium of an industry leaders to help further the arb sector. All very inspiring stuff and all but that's not the same guy.
I'd hazard a guess that the rotund northern dough ball did a bit in college and maybe a bit of ground work before ducking out and starting a podcast instead.
If I seem grumpy I've had a hard couple of days.
Apologies for confusing the two, I cant believe there's not a thread on him alone I am utterly bewildered.
BT line clearance
in Trees and the Law
Posted
I have a customer who's woodland runs adjacent to a public footpath/road with a BT line and poles right on the boundary. BT have pressurized the land owner into them having the trees cut for a rebuild of the poles and lines. Surely that isn't the right way to go about things unless I'm missing something?
They have their own cutting teams, are they being hoodwinked here?
Cheers lads n lasses
