Kiln there ...but does not open it to others. Kingsland - construction. No kiln. mmm. Oh well. The suggestions were appreciated.

Kingsland Sawmills - thought they were construction only..will try them though Good Bros - great flooring there but no kiln Pontrilas - intimidating place... Not sure if they want to know about requests from an individual. Will ask though. Building my own?? Yes I have seen the thread. Very interesting but most of what i have got planned can wait and dry slowly . I just have a need to get some done quickly/quicker.

I am cutting oak boards at the moment and will air dry them to start. However, it would be nice to lay them before next winter. Can anyone point me in the direction of a kiln near Hereford? (I am getting a bit disappointed by hearing 'No ...sorry...it all comes from France now ..' )

Advice welcome.. My old makita is hard to start unless i remove the spark and pour a bit of fuel into the cylinder when cold. Then when warm it is easy to stop and pull start almost instantly. But simple pull starts from cold are impossible unless fuel is added directly. Diaphragm seems to move ok, idles fine, revs up ok. Choke lever moving ok to carb assembly. Is this a blockage somewhere??? I am no expert on this. Any suggestions ???

Hmmm this is what i am afraid of. The planks will be planed down into boards so a bit of green is ok on the surface but if it penetrates deeper i am in trouble.... Might have to use these stickers for timber that ultimately will be painted/covered.

It would drive me nuts too! I assume you have a pallet load at a time?? What sort of quantity are Helmdon happy to send on a pallet? Tom

I have found a supply of used softwood stickers. They have been tanalised as used for exterior timbers. Does anyone use them regularly? Is there much chance of these staining planks (ultimately to be used for flooring when moulded)?????Cheers

Fourth thumbs up from me! Dead quick and easy to put on/ use take off. When the grinding stones wear down too much for cutter teeth I then use them for depth gauge filing. Grinder and stones are a good value buy from Rob.

Unlikely to need it out this year- also access is across two fields now planted so was thinking after harvest next year/ reconsidering current access situation. Are you near and what sort of kit had you got in mind? Can PM me ...

I agree with the suggestion of contacting the Marcher Apple Network. You might have already seen the Big Apple Day on 13th /14th October where there are huge displays of varieties ....and an apple ID service. This bit will be at Hellens (a historic house in Much Marcle) and they say to 'bring examples which include the stem and piece of branch and a leaf or two as these all help identification' (charge £2). It is a pleasant day out and not a million miles from you in Caerphilly. Be warned that you will probably end up buying apples you will never have heard of from the displays and leave with more ideas of making cider! I do not recommend calling in on farms on your way past that appear to grow apples. I know loads of apple farmers - they know their own fruit and how to manage it commercially but there are not many varieties grown this way in comparison to the vast array of apple types still growing in small orchards and gardens.
