  3. Hi, My name is paul and i currently live in Hay-on-wye herefordshire. Iv been searching for work since Sept last year. Im fairly new to the game and just need a foot in the door. I have CS30/31 and am doing CS38 next week. I have been working as a freelance climbing instructor and rope access technician for the last 6 years and am wanting a career change. I also have a 4 day mountain first aid and first aid at work. Not afraid of long hours, hard graft and early starts. As im new to the industry id be willing to travel to learn from the more experienced guys out there. Any aspect of the industry will be useful from dragging brash to assisting climbers.

If someone could help that would be awsome.

P.S I have done a bit of geotechnical work in the past.

    Cheers

  4. Just curious as i know an arbtalker who's struggling to find a groundie for part time work, everytime he gets a reply they end up saying oh thats to far.

I did a day for an arbtalker last year and i traveled from faversham to dartford, i appreciate that fuel is taking into the equasion and that will lower wot you earn for the day, Wots considered reasonable traveling as a subbie?

As a newbie to the industry and desperate for a chance to work id be prepared to travel as far as it takes really within reason. I live in Hay-on-Wye herefordshire. If He is still looking for someone Then heres my number 07768242287. Where is he based?

    Cheers

  5. Hi , Iv put up a few threads here looking for work in and around Herefordshire area. I have my CS30/31 and have booked myself on CS38 in mid June. Iv been working as a climbing instructor and a rope access technician for the past 7 years. Iv been trying to find work for the last 6 months and still nothing. Im just needing a chance to gain some experience from an experienced climber etc. It seems like all the employers out there are looking for people with experience but how am i supposed to gain that without someone giving me a chance. Im sure a lot of the newbies out there are in the same boat as me. Can anyone help or give some advice on someone who can. Im willing to do volunteer work, Im a hard grafter, not afraid of long hours etc and willing to travel as im freelance at the moment and have nothing to tie me down.

    Cheers guys

  6. Hello mate, My mate had a JCB phone. We both worked as white water raft guides so were forever dropping our phones in the water and down the river bank etc. he still has it after 4 years and its still waterproof and still bounces very well. Check them out.

    Happy hunting.

  7. Hello mate,

I was in your shoes for a while and still am in a way. Most of the guys iv spoken to have said that they want someone with ariel rescue. So i went away and got CS30/31 and am now in the process of getting CS38 as well. Then try and gain some more experience as a groundie so you can learn from the experienced guys out there. Finding work at the moment isnt easy trust me but iv been told to stick at it and it will happen. Also iv been told dont try to do too much too soon. Start from the basics and work your way up. But for sure try and get CS30/31 and CS38. this will make it easier to set the ball rolling.

Best of luck with the job hunt bro.

  8. Hi Tristan,

I think this is a great idea as im brand new to the industry and its getting very tough to find any work because everyone wants people with experience but how do i get experience if nobody gives me a chance.

I have sent you an email with a few details on and also attatched a copy of my C.V.

If you want anything else just let me know.

Good luck with it and hope lots of people sign up.

  9. Hi all. Iv been searching for a CS38 course in mid wales or surrounding areas. I live in Hay-on-Wye at the moment but dont mind travelling for a course. Iv been a rope access technician for a few years now and a climbing instructor for about 7. There are plenty of places that run them but nowhere has a course with vacancies before mid-end June this year. Does anybody here run courses? And is there any running soon within the next few weeks?

Need some help with this because trying to find work without CS38 is getting really hard.

Any responses will be greatly appreciated.

    cheers

We are more likely to get work in autumn/winter as thats when tree growth is at its slowest and its easier to work with. (apologies if im wrong about that but its what iv been told). Where are you based?
