  1. Try seeing what number is on the drive link. Stihl use 3/8" .063 Width Part Number 3.6 .325" .050 Width Part Number 2.3 .325" .058 Width Part Number 2.5 .325" .063 Width Part Number 2.6 You should then be able to work out the correct pitch and drive link count.
  2. Without looking at any other comments and just from the picture , I will say Red Oak ( quercus rubra var )
  3. Yes thats right the cutter on the right seemed to be putting too much effort into getting through the log, and in doing so was slowed down, plus the left hand side operator was very skilled in the up and down cuts. No mention of what chain the slower one was using. May be he needs to go to Saw Chain UK Suppliers of Maya Sawchain

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.
