Nice one gibbon, what software did you use to edit the video?
-
I just went to the local sewing outlet and got a pair, they seem to do the trick, they cut AP core really nicely not sure what brand they are though

unbelievable.

Done, good luck!!!

hmm, yea doesn't sound the best! hopefully some pics of SJ/RW setups will be up soon

When you say side loading the gear, do you mean that the carab twists when you ascend then when you sit in the system, the carab gets side loaded?

I use 6mm OV with a large splice in one end that chokes off on the RW and then I have stitched a snap lock shackle to the other end, so with the RW's quick release pin and the snap lock shackle on the other end of the tether the hole setup can be removed and installed real quick!

spiral cracking?

Good stuff Ian, can't wait to see the vid's!

I like that stitching Craig very suave, are you just using two lengths through same needle.
That snakeskin? looks ace, would match my orange tachyon nicely! I best pester HB's to stock it here!
whats the core made from?
Cheers Dak, yeap two lengths through same needle, like Drew said its poly core. Looks good but doesn't last, the poly core AP (its red) would last and prob look pretty good with your orange tachyon
I have NEVER seen stiching that tidy! awesome, a lot of effort went into that:thumbup1:Cheers Hamadryad, there not bad, but still not perfect!

I use Posion ivy and Tree Access

The best system I think might be the really basic Petzl chest harness. It's about £20 and the straps are thin so it won't heat you up in the summer. It basically clips to the back of the harness, comes over the shoulders and is length adjustable.
Anyone got one?
Could use an old inner tube from a tyre, cross into figure 8 shape and put over shoulders, use beiner to attach to RW at chest height, free from a bike shop, save £20:thumbup:

Ive used a similar system using a croll, pantin, small prussic loop and 300mm sling for a foot loop.
Croll is attached above pantin with 300mm sling coming off bottom for foot loop and and bungy coming of the top connected to prussic above splice/knot.
Its ok, but its twice as much work been DRT. I would recommend using a Rope Wrench and climbing SRT, much more efficient and faster with practice.
Or an access line could be set and use a micro frog system to ascend then set your DRT system and work off that.
Just my thoughts

hi Ian, yeah i tried doing that technique and found it a bit awkward. When the rain stops ill get to have another play!

Hi Craig,
Are you clipping anything into the RW to pull it up the line? I have just switched my tether for a Dmm thimble thingy and now clip into that. I will be changing my system over to a knot on the weekend for a reccy climb as there will already be a RW LJ setup so i'll see what i find.
I used a short sling to attach the RW to my hand ascender, as i went up the line the RW seemed to sit on top of my hitch creating some friction, maybe i had my tether too short, will have a bit of a play around today and see what i can do
Cheers Ian

Nice work Reg, like above what a huge Arbutus! Keep the vids coming!

so... had a go with the rope wrench today..... wow! its awsome!
Did notice a couple of things though, my prussic seems to bit quite hard, does this mean i need to adjust the bushes closer together on the wrench so it takes more friction or do i just need to get used to it?
Also when i was ascending with a micro frog variation, the wrench seemed to bunch up on the top of the hitch and jam it up, any advice?
cheers guys!

yeap small tree, roga that
