  1. It's just my domestic use. No room to store huge amounts. But thanks anyway.
  2. As above. Space to tip. PM me please. cheers warren
  3. Hello All Chip drop with hard standing tipper access available in Prestwich. Just off Bury Old Road opposite Armstrongs chippy (handy;) 5 minutes from junc 17 on the m60. Its an allotment and we're using the chip as mulch. I work close by and can be there in 5 minutes. PM me for mobile number. Cheers Warren
  4. Seems my pile of rings is diminishing so I'm after some hardwood cord delivered to north Manchester just off m60 junc 17. Thanks
  5. For future reference I've space for tipping logs and chip in the Prestwich area. Cheers
  6. Anymore in Prestwich, give me shout. I can take a pickup load or theres space to tip at mine. Cheers...
  7. So I should leave a stub, only cutting to the extent of the deadwood (its a hanger for the sake of an argument), not the collar? Is there anywhere to read BS 3998 2010 online?
  8. So theres a dead branch hanging over a public path. A target prune to give the tree chance to heal up would involve cutting a live part of the limb. Have I 'damaged' the tree?
  9. Cheers Ben, thanks for the offer. There seems to be a distinct lack of arbo suppliers and knowledge in / around Manchester. Must be the lack of trees. I have spotted Fletcher Stewarts in Stockport. But are they distributors only?
  10. I've used it a couple if times and not hammered it. Still clean. Does it make a difference?
  11. Looking to get my climbing line spliced. Yale xtc. Any one doing this in the Manchester area apart from Cider Bob from the Nags Ed?
  12. Not quite arb, but a good way to spend a day and I'm sure some of you lot have some good toys. Looking to do some low level super safe climbing, swinging in the woods with my lad, whose 9, and a few of his mates. I'm thinking about a zipwire of some sort (couple of feet off the ground at the most) whats the best rope and way to tension the rope? 10 ton ratchets? I've spotted the 24kn Petzl P21 Tandem pulley on Jones' but any other ideas more than welcome...
  13. Gotta love fixin up retro engines. High end a bit rich?
  14. And now she's leafleted the neighbourhood and gone into partnership with 'Owd Bill' from next door. Now then, seriously, whats the deal with this? Are they breaking the law?
  15. Whats your number? Ill pass it on to him . Is it hard wood and seasoned? Thanks
  16. Just a call out for a mate living over that way. Easy access. Drop a reply here or pm me. thanks Warren
  17. Is that green chip or is it seasoned?
  18. Tis done - pressed the button at Jonsies. Some back garden swinging coming up.I wonder what next door and the dog will make of it all. I'll let you know... Thanks Dee, I'll get a grip of the kit for myself first and when I feel confident I'll get the kit for the kids ordered. Although he gets higher up the trees than I ever have till his mum spots him that is...
  19. Keep it coming! I'm still dithering over finalising some choices - Yale XTC and some Yale Silver Streak Friction for the Prussik. Sound OK? I've also swapped the Sequoia for a Navaho. I'm not spending all day every week in this gear so I'm trying to get a balance (ie under 500 notes inc a new pole saw and and decent lopper Dee - do have any suggestions for 'an extra small' harness? I could pop down to the local climbing wall we use and pick their brains.
  20. All food for thought, thanks for the feedback. Now the grass is slowing down its time to start on the hedges and deadwood. Time to press the button on Joneses website.
  21. Morso Badger here. 10 year warranty with free call out. Completely airtight when locked down.
  22. I'm looking at getting a basic kit to do some recreational climbing with my son, he's 9. All low level balancing / swinging stuff. I also do mostly groundwork and thought the kit would also be handy for some big hedges and deadwood removal in the grounds I look after. Nothing too adventurous I've been soaking up the info on here and bought myself a copy of the Treeclimbers Companion. I've put a shopping list together on Jones' and come up with this lot for a basic Traditional Dynamic rig as described on pg53. Any advice, additions, options and pishtaking more than welcome Great forum btw 1 off Petzl Sequoia climbing harness (for me) 1 off Petzl Simba Kids Harness (for my lad) 1 off Yale XTC Plus climbing rope 1 splice (45m) 2 off Silverstreak knotted prussik loop 650mm w/serial conforms EN566 4 off ISC 30kn HMS 3 way karabiner (aluminium) 1 off Yale steel core flip line 3m 1 off Marlow braided throwline 50m 1 off Marlow split tail 1.5m 1 off Marlow split tail 3.5m
