Have I bored anyone with this before?
Always worth reposting old favourites IMO Tony.
Newbies should get the benefit just in case they never reach the depths of the old posts.
-
the bottom ones resinaceum(sp?) right? you should start a new thread for those with details mate:icon14:
other people can then add to these threads.
Good idea Steve, will try to put something together tommorow when i'm back amongst my reference library.
Not trying to step on your Blue Suedes John, just thought id add some different examples.

and finally doing some work to a tree full of bats - we capped the top to stop water entering the roost through winter storm damage......
Hello Chris,
what species of Bat are in the roost, and what did you use to `cap' the storm damage?
Lastly, whats your MEWP?
Cheers

Just a little bump on this thread.
Question for New Forest, did you get round to getting the Rope Guide after your trip,
If so how you getting on?
Sciadopitys, did you ever get on with the Guide or did you go back to an alternative?
Finaly a question for Steve, Buzz, Pete Mctree, Marc & Peter.
Can you install the Rope Guide from the floor like you can a trad cam saver?
appreciate your thoughts guys.

Used to have a longish barnet back in me pre climbing youthhood.
Had a climbing buddy who had hair down to his arse.
Could never understand how he dealt and climbed with drenched sweaty locks in the summer,
yet alone the time it took him to get his helmet on.

I’m sure I’ve missed something out! H & S, don't you just love it...
Out of interest John, how much time per week do you think you invest in legislation and are there any forms/regulations you think are purely pen pushing exercises dreamt up by the overly bored, overly paid H&S office wallers?
You obviously don't need to answer part two of my question here, but i'd be keen on a pm.

We'll be there on the Friday

Just like to state that i made the long trip across town today to go and check out http://www.frjonesandson.co.uk
Am pleased to relay that the regular praise that they receive here, is very well merited IMO.
I found Justin to be very amiable and the stock is wide in choice and high in quality.
If they were closer to North London i would be spending a lot of rainy days drooling at all the toys,
and would no doubt end up spending heaps of mulah !
Keep up the good work boys

A replacement has been planted and is doing very well its to the left.
Going by your brief history of works, this looks to me like exactly where Modern Tree Care should be.
It appears that all stake holders in this Trees past, present and future have been professionaly, sympatheticaly and safely considered.
Well done to all involved

Just a little tip, your work area should be clear of trip hazards when your felling or snedding.

There's no other city in this country that compares to the capital.
There's no other City in the World that compares. IMO

Nice story board of photos John.
Great idea to post the picus results for the public. A little pre-info goes a long way in reducing on job opposition.
Like your style

Tony, I think the link is broken?
Link works fine for me.

this is the craziest machine i have ever seen!QUOTE]
WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!
The Empire has finaly arrived on our insignificant Rebel planet.

Inspiring stuff Mr Coates.
Although never anywhere nearly as accomplished a climber as yourself, your work almost makes me want to dust off me old Willans and get the Buckinghams back on.............anyway enough reminiscing, back to the reality of Tree Risk Policy, Joint Mitigation Protocols and Loler records.
Reg, you and your fellow crane-ially challenged Arborists really are taking the industry to new heights.
Please excuse the cringeworthy pun.
You deserve the Kudos
Not wanting to highjack the post, but....I'm interested in what peoples views are on training when it comes to crane dismantles.
I probably should start a new thread.
Keep em peeled hombres !

From a conservational angle, mature Sycamores atract the largest Biomass of all UK trees.
On the one hand this could be considered beneficial, although the biomass is generally extremely limited in species diversity,
mainly just tons and tons of aphids, but a bugs got to eat !
Compare this to a Mature Oak which can have upwards of 400 + individual species crawling, jumping and growing all over it.
I guess this adds weight to the arguement that invasive pioneer Tree species such as Sycamore could be considered weeds due to the detremental effect it has on the diversity of our woodland eco systems.

Looks like youv'e got Arb licked now Reg,
isn't it time you started bending your will to world poverty or something else a bit more challenging !

Cheers

It's beautiful!
Pure class MB, Pure Class !

I like it pt
Not sure youll get much response on the thread though, but hope i'm wrong.
I reckon ground practice is a tad unrealistic though, as work positioning whether from a harness or mewp is different because here your giving yourself 360 degree access on terra firma.
Which more often than not is not available up in the tree.
Don,t let MB and the unbelievers disuade any of you from giving it a go, but without wanting to sound too obvious,
watch out young arbs this is kick back city.
Good post

Thanks for the info Chris,
do you ever use the Lionlift for Fracturing pruning/Coronet cuts?
