  1. As you may know, I'm nowt to do with trees, other than the fact that I like them and this forum (just call me weird). I'm after some advice, I got home form work last night to be faced with the fact that some little toe rag had decided to swing on the tree (just coming into blossom) in our garden and has snapped the trunk at the base. I'm fairly sure it will be beyond repair? If not, what should/could I do to try and rescue it?

If it is a goner then how could/would I go about dealing with it and ideally replacing it with a fruit tree?

I'm tempted to use the place as a deserving burial ground for the little git that did it but don't suppose I can get away with that!

Money is tight at the moment so if there's something I can do by myself all the better.

  3. It's called common courtesy where I come from. I will always offer any workmen I've got in if they want a drink and will do regularly (probably down to the fact I think that if I treat them well I might get a slightly better job done pr price at the end of it) - does that make me bad? Having said that, when I last moved house I was helping the removal guys offload and carry stuff into the house and they looked at me as if I was mad. I couldn't believe it when they said most people want the chairs in frst so they can sit down while they watch them do all the work. The world is a crazy place.

  4. Nothing like a good burn up and cooking snags on the embers unlike my groundy who just drops them in the embers...

Bread and butter job... Not really that fun !!!

Is it ok to trim these back at this time of year or am I better leaving it another month? As you can guess I'm not an expert in these matters but love the forum anyway - more for the photography than the knowledge of all things wood.

The missus is nagging me to get our conifers trimmed but I'm holding out for warmer weather :001_smile:

  5. got my contract sorted

    htc wildfire great phone

    300 anytime anynetwork minutes

    unlimited text

    500mb internet

only 12 month contract for £15 a month

also got my girlfriend on it with a free wildfire as well for £15 same deal but for 24 months

    so im very happy

I'm on the same as your missus, thought it was a really good deal to be honest and love the phone. A quick tip, don't stay connected or your battery drains within the day. Just connect whenever you need to go online - battery will last a good few days like that.

  6. Hi I am new to the forum but from what I see it looks pretty good. I'm hoping I'm ok to add a link to my website where we have recently developed a range of pre-use inspection checklists for various pieces of equipment including harnesses, ladders, MEWPs etc which could be of use within this industry.

We developed the system to ensure that anyone going to use equipment know's when it has been checked and that it is 'good to go' in line with PUWER, LOLER and WAHR regs.

It might be overkill to some but an easy fix for others that want to ensure they are compliant with best practice.

Let me know what you think:
