How much weight do you recon you can get on the forks Andy, before the rear wheels come off the ground? Impressive design though, looks very useful.

I get about 28mpg from the Caddy and about 22mpg from the Transporter.

Alot of people are saying they don't want certain hardwood like Silver Birch when as long as its seasoned its fine. Whats going on?

Silver Birch is one of my favourite woods to burn, anyone who says they don’t want silver birch obviously doesn’t know anything about wood.

Ford Ranger or Toyota Hilux, Ive got a Mk2 Ranger super cab, and the chap i work for Has a Mk3 Ranger Super cab, both get used off road regularly, for log deliveries, hauling and towing, and are excellent at it, both are good solid trucks.

I doubt you would be able to get a hilux super cab for 5k as i think its only the newer models that you can the super cab with.

Thanks for the replies, so if everything works fine in 4wd when off road and in snow, it isn't the cv joints? it just making noises because it doesn't need to be in 4wd?

But the think that makes me think it isn't the cv joint is that it doesn't make a knocking noise of road or in snow, is it just transmission wind up, from the odd occasion in been in 4wd on roads.

I do it with the button, and 4wd is engaged in full.

No, ive only been using 4L for steep hills, and deep snow, ive been mostly in 4H.

Hi Guys, i hope someone can help and give me some advice about the 4wd on my Fourtrak. When 4wd is engaged and I'm turning and getting near to full lock at slow speeds, it starts making a knocking noise around the front wheels somewhere. I dont think think it has done this when driving off road, or in the recent snow and ice, but only, i think on tarmac and wet roads. I hear it might be the CV joints? or is it because im a fool and have been driving in 4wd on solid surfaces:blushing:?

Im about to sell the vehicle, as Ive just bought a Ford ranger, and would like to know what im dealing with when selling it. if it is the CV joints is it expensive to replace? or is it something entirely different? Hope someone can help, Cheers.

Btw, Its a 1997 reg with automatic locking hubs, if that makes any difference.
