  1. Hello there I work on trees for a housing company and I'd like to get a tree survey done by a consultant for all the trees surrounding a residential scheme in north manchester. The aim of the survey is to risk assess the trees and identify any works that may need to be carried out. its not a trees in relation to construction survey they want, more something to say they've had all their trees looked at. theres quite allot of trees, mostly growing in a sort of street tree/garden environment and its quite tricky to describe the confines of the site so i could do with being there to show you. If anyones around wed afternoon then that would be great! il check on here tomorrow day if i can to see if anyones replied but you can also txt or call me on if your interested. p.s you don't need to give me the quote wed, just come and look. 07866985106 cheers sam
  2. Ended up going for arborist 150 because I got a good deal on an ex demmo and was available immediately. The new timberwolf was a beast though and the forst looked promising. Just that bit beyond me.
  3. Bald Ed brought me a demo of the 230 timberwolf today and it munched some brash which i'd perposefully designed to be a horrendous challenge. Very impressive, thought he might have told me to shove it!
  4. sorry, just seen this. answered my question. Maybe going for the 130 and slowly restoring my old chipmaster for the heavier stuff would be a good way to go.
  5. roughly how much you looking at for one of those beasts and how thirsty do you find it?
  6. I'l get another vid when its stripped further and update how it goes. Whats the best bet parts wise for these old listers? scour ebay? good to know that its no ones fault. The blame game has begun and the accusations are fliying but im gonna step in and say its an act of the tree gods to test our faith! cheers.
  7. sounds promising! I'l forward this on to my dad to boost his morale!
  8. Cheers! Could anything im doing wrong on a day to day basis encourage "hydrauliced"/bust timing chain? blades were a bit dull but nothing silly. Just old age?
  9. oh god....its not the fuel system after all! Full blown disaster by the looks! Check the video of my dad showing me the score! [ame] [/ame] what do you think could have caused such a calamity? all fluids were topped up, nothing irregular being fed in. Blades are kept sharp in genral (although i had run them pretty dull waiting for saturn machine knives). Ive been lazy with the Anvil, could have done with a new one a while ago. The machine died with a guy unfamiliar operating it on half revvs, I shouted down from the tree to tell him to stop this but he did it a few times, maybe ran it about 10 inutes all in all on half revvs, chipping 3-4 inch beach branches. could it be that perhaps? who knows. Where to go from here. anyone have an engine diagram/manual for this kind?
  10. great info cheers, i'l let you know exactly what weve been upto come tonight and I'l take some pics and vids so you can see what it sounds like and looks like etc. cheers
  11. Cheers, forgot to mention he'd been over some of those things first but thats all good stuff, nice checklist to work on. I'l be back on with an update tonight.
  12. Im on with getting a new chipper but id also like to repair whatever has gone wrong with my trusty old greenmech chipmaster 202. Has been solid and dependable for years but all of a sudden it sputtered out last week weve struggled to identify the problem but suspect the engine. My dads quite handy on mechanic work as hes tinkered with cars all his life and hes had a look at the engine and described the following... "Ok here goes! Not done a proper test but the compression seems fine on all four cylinders. The valves are open ing and closing ok .when we try to start it seems to spin round easyer than it did before.thinking it might be the injection pump not creating the high pressure any more. Also with the solenoid stop valve disconnected from the from 12v supply in the normally off position a small amount of fuel is emitted from the injector pipes if you undo the nut at the injectors. Fuel will flow from the rubber injector return pipe.when we tried to run it in the normal condition with injector nut undone there did not seem to be the normal amount of pressure and spray but not having messed with chipper engine not to sure what normal is." Does anyone have any top tips for us to try? and does anyone happen to have an engine diagram for the 4 cylinder lister petter in the 202 chipmaster? much appreciated!
  13. id say yes i probly could afford that as i dont have a house or any responsibilities but i dont work full time so down days here and there I can cope with no problem. Still though...it would be nice not having to tow 1200kg in my old smiley transit. 750kg would be much better. so its between the greenmech arborist and new timberwolf then.
  14. Im concerned about the effects the repayments will have on my life if I go brand spanking new on finance. Im thinking about getting another of the machine ive got, big old heavy sluggish greenmech chipmaster for around 3k. I'l make do and mend for a year or two and asess the arb community's reaction to the new timberwolf. If its shite I can always change my mind, sell it and go ahead with a finance deal. Or am I wasting time just delaying what i need to be doing at some point anyway? tough decision!
  15. cheers for your take on it. You summed up my situation well, i think il find the 750kg convenient. my budget is the lower end.
  16. really? Impressive you can keep an open mind after going the greenmech path. considering jumping ship?
  17. it seems to be whats hot! i just wonder about the durability and longevity of the smaller machines. If i pay a bomb id rather get something that will do the long run but the reports coming back are really good its the most likely choice i think.
  18. Educate me! My old greenmech chipmaster just died (something terrible and unexpected gone wrong with the engine after years of good service). The time may finally have come to invest In a new one. Its gonna have to be on finance or a wonder deal as im youngish and new ish in my buisness but going well. I have the B+E licence and a smiley transit and was going to go for the sub 750kg greenmech diesel as my town is very hilly but im intrigued about whats out there andbyour thoughts on smashing the 750kg barrier! do you really find it that much better for genral tree work? (I do all sorts all over greater manchester). cheers sam
  19. Convert me! My old greenmech chipmaster just died (something terrible and unexpected gone wrong with the engine after years of good service). Im about to make a new thread on what to get. Its gonna have to be on finance or a wonder deal as im youngish and new ish in my buisness but going well. I have the B+E licence and a smiley transit and was going to go for the sub 750kg greenmech diesel as my town is very hilly but im intrigued about your thoughts on smashing the 750kg barrier! do you really find it that much better for genral tree work? (I do all sorts all over greater manchester). I'l make my new thread, cheers
  20. Nice one that makes sense cheers.
  21. What about my cs 40? Or is it 41 i forget? Did the tree DVLA exchange knowledge with the quango to crossover on pruning or are they different beasts altogether? Got to say i was very unimpressed with the nptc pruning. Didn't feel it taught me much. For the purposes of this though il be working off the recommendations of a tree survey and its dosmantling/felling and planting (might need to sub in someone with more experience on re planting) but lets say if it is pruning stuff too do you think it would be fair to say id be working to british standard off the back of cs40 doing regilar thinning/reductions or nay?
  22. Thats the approach I've gone for. I told him the nptc guidelines will have been written with that legislation in mind (it seems in reality perhaps not so!) but he made out he had a copy so if ive asked him to send it me so i can be sure!
  23. They've had a tree survey done. Site manager has showed me what they need doing but I've asked for a copy of the report to read through so i'l see what the recommendations and assess wether I'm working to the standards necessary to comply with BS.
  24. Interesting, so in this respect the nptc surpasses the british standard if you've done larger trees/windblown or whatever?
