  1. Well done Rory thats great news. still have you in mind for larger jobs so hope to call you soon and test out these new skills.

    Ted.(Bicton)

Hi Ted sounds good glad your still thinking of me thank you mate.

Treenelly thanks for the advice did do my 38 a few years ago now but am currently doing my nch/arb course (loveing it) and my tutor says that'l cover me for that part of it, cheers again tho mate.

  2. I have recently got a 394 xp with 28in bar second hand-no problems with the saw starts and runs like new, just wondered why there dose not seem to be a single post about what seems to be a very good saw, feels to me like it's got more grunt than the 395's I'v used and on a par with 066 and 660's yet it go's unmentioned is this a bad sign that they dont last or do they just not have problems and therefore don't get mentioned?

  3. rory, what problems they been having? anything major?

or just the usual "colour isn't as nice as the last model" :-)

No nothing major yet just alot of whineing about the extra little bit of weight, I just like to see a peice of kit prove it's self before I'l spend the cash on it, the old one is a better colour tho:biggrin:

  4. Spent alot of time with a 390 and got a 361 now and dispite the extra cc's on the 390 an hr with each and the 361 is the better saw by far and in my experince so far is the more reliable of the two, get one wile you can beware the new model saw-new model new problems to be ironed out.

But at the end of the day see below

  5. It depends on what you want to do, I'm doing the 1 year n c at bicton in devon at the moment as a sort of qulifiy to do the job i do type of thing and as far as i can see from talking to ppl one the higher courses theres no more practical experince just more of the tree survaying and forestery side of things, so it's really a case of extra qulifacations against getting into work faster.

I don't know hove things work in york regarding nptc's but for us you only get cs.30, cs.38 and woodchipper ticiket's we do the training for 31 and 39 but have to pay for the assesments at £80 to £100 a time, doing a higher course dosen't get you any more nptc's down here but that might be different up your way.

  6. stihl ms 361 if you can jusitfy the money, mines my main saw I use it for almost everything, still use my husky 36 at times tho so as far as the debate go's i say the best saw in the world is the one in getting you paid.
