  19. Hi chaps, i have a contract where i have aprox 60 trees mainly ash and oak 45ish ft high) ranging from 10" to 3ft diameter at the base. (the average would be 18") i will be felling them and i can get them down on the ground no probs. i plan to log the tops myself and sell the stuff over 8" roadside. my question is how do i know what its worth. ie am i selling decent stuff as firewood when actually it could be more valuable. whats the going rate for roadside at the mo? cheers for any pointers Ed

  21. processor hire? i might be buying an artic load of sycamore and i would like to know if there is anywhere i can hire a processor. ive only got a 30hp compact tractor. Ed
  22. im sorry if this has been asked before but...... i might be coming to the end of my usual supply of standing timber so i might have to buy a load in. so i presume that means an artic for circa £60 a tonne ? so when this is converted how many cube would this make on average as i know this will alter depending on timber size Ed
  23. I need a skilled landscaper that can do most things unsupervised and to a very high standard. am i asking too much? LOL. I dont seem to get the right standard of applicant from local papers, where do you advertise? Cheers Ed.
  24. ive recently taken down a beech that was dying back, there was a bracket fungus at the base, i have logged and split most of it now (10m3). some of the rings have wet rot in the heart and some have a dry rot, im splitting the decent wood into logs and burning the rotten stuff. but im worried that a little bit of rot will "infect " the rest of the wood pile? Ed
