  1. I'll be trying that! I've got a few pieces of etched glass in the garage from when I've changed them over the years. It needs doing again so this could save me £70.

I also read that prolonged over heating can cause the glass to be etched. Sometimes I've come in and the wife has it running flat out like a raging inferno... so she's had the blame!

  2. I'm on the lookout for a tw190 dead or alive for a project. I basically only need the flywheel housing back but I would consider a tired machine, or one with a blown engine, knackered chassis, etc.

There must be one looking sorry for itself in the corner of a yard somewhere!

I have tried a few places and tried on Facebook with no luck.

I might also consider any other 8 inch + modern chipper.

  3. We run it on a valtra that has a utch on the pto yes when I used 1 on a mog it too had a air clutch which ment the shafts could turn freely when disengaged, the overrun just gives the transmission some protection from the flywheel mass should you drop the rpm quickly, I got 1 not too expensive from local tractor dealers when I built the quick chip which isn't too big and just slipped onto the input splines on the gearbox. 4c272b6dbeb43adfdeb20b6bbf5a41fd.jpg

Is that a Pto reverse gearbox mounted on the frame? If so, where did you get it?
  4. The lack of big arb suppliers was a big disappointment this year. For me, and a lot of others too, honey brothers and frjones are the main reasons for coming to the show. Especially since the stihl distance selling rules came in, these suppliers can't post any new machines. I was ready to spend a lot of money on new saws and kit but I came away this year with a flip line!

I personally think the aa should be enticing these big suppliers to the show because you will pull bigger numbers in.

If it's the same next year, I won't be coming (along with a lot of other people!)

  5. Had a glass sliding window go *shatter* this morning.

I'm gonna replace it with Perspex.... is there a type of plastic I should use for that? Or is Perspex, perspex? Is some Perspex more scratch resistant than other types of Perspex?

Is some Perspex UV protected? Does some cheapie Perspex turn yellow with age?

I know very little about Perspex, cutting it, etc... so any advice is appreciated!

    cheers, Steve

You could get some laminated glass cut at a glass shop. I had a piece cut for a machine which was an awkward shape with radius corners and all edges rounded for £30... Approx size 500 mm X 600mm. Just gave them a ply template.

  6. I know it's a bit of a "how longs a a bit of string" question but roughly how many 45x65 kindling nets do you get out of an artic of softwood?

We sell a few thousand bags to customers but always get asked by our wholesale customers to supply kindling too. I've always bought it in but the cheap supply has dried up.

We were getting around 3000 nets to an artic load.

  7. Does anyone use a lm166 (16ft dropside) for transporting a 2.5t digger?

I've got a gd106 with fold down ramp which is nice and low and easy use but it's a one trick pony and it's f'ing wide!

I've been offered a 16ft ifor which would be a much better all-rounder as I could get the chipper and grinder on it and it would get used a lot more for general use.

  8. Mine just started playing up. On full throttle when ringing up, it started to hunt. Very similar to when it's running out of fuel but it had a full tank. Any ideas?

I'm going to order a new tank breather, fuel filter and fuel line and see if that fixes it.
