  1. The OP says working in the low emission zone? Scoobys are not low emmision cars surely?! Maybe even the same as a landy as far as this nugget govt's concerned! The new diesel may be, but lacking in torque according to Clarkson, and too shiny for getting dirty! You can get a new Volvo estate V50 1.6D DRIVe with Start/Stop (109 PS) that produces 104g/km, a bloody great estate producing less than the little Yaris I used to have, if thats not fiddling the figures I don't know what is! I recently posted that fact on a mostly US forum, one response was thats the first they'd heard mention of CO2 outputs for vehicles ever! One day the downtrodden British masses will rise up against such misrepresented Governing, and, and.......................... put the kettle on
  2. I had to order the application form for the provisional, while waiting three weeks for an appointment for the medical, the form for which you download. Once you've passed the medical only then can you apply for the provisional. It isn't too clear, but the form says if you have a car licence you have to send that off too, it implies if you have cat C1 then you don't have to but ringing to ask they said I had to. That can take 3 weeks to come back, mine has been gone since 1/12/09 and they reckon they've not had it yet Only when they have approved the provisional application can you book either the (two part but can be taken in one go) theory or the practical test, or lessons. Then theres the CPC but since that (and most of the rest for my campervan) doesn't apply to me can't say much on that! Another theory test for sure anyway. The medical needs redoing every 5 years once you're over 40. Did you also know everyone needs to renew the photo on their licence every 10 years, for which there's a fee, or big fine etc? Since they must know how long ago everyone renewed, and therefore who is instantly fineable, you'd think that would be an automatic cash crop!
  3. Hi folks, I originally came across this forum searching for Unimog info as I have a camper conversion, but can I ask your expert advice please?! My camper is just about 4m high, and I hope to head down through Africa sometime next year. As we're a bit higher than most other vehicles many who have already been there and done that advise me I need a chainsaw! I do have a ladder already high enough to reach that height, or I could just sit on the roof to trim anything blocking our path. Bearing in mind I might never use it, but I also might be hugely thankful for it depending on what we come accross; Would you reccomend a small chainsaw or stick with the bow saw I have? I'm not fussed how quickly it cuts, as long as it starts when I need it to, so which saw? 15" bar or even smaller? I have used an 18"? partner for firewood felling and sizing a while ago, but realise some guidance would help. Anyone around Suffolk/Essex/Norfolk that gives a half days training? Thankyou in advance!
