thanks, mainly the customer wants to reduce the "body" of it to prevent it intruding into neighbors garden, and to keep it under control, the amount removed was to be at the customers preference, to remove a little and to stop when she was happy, within reason. There can be no harm in doing this without ticket to begin with, in rare instances such as yesterday, i am thinking ,so a safe bet has got to be to get a sign, cones and tape.

what about signage and cones on footpaths, to warn public, i.e yesterday i was removing a laurel from a customers front garden, do i need qualification and training for this?

Morning, Do any of you have any experience of dealing with the Princes trust for funding NPTC courses? I have a young disadvantaged lad working for me, and would like to get him through his ticket courses, however being a low earner myself and new to business, i can only cover a portion of the cost. i recently returned a combination ladder with stabilizer bar, as it was totally unsafe and unfit for purpose ,the mechanics for using it as a step ladder where flawed, ill fitting, unadjustable despite having threaded thumb screws, and time consuming to assemble, only to have the two parts of the assembled "A" silently part company at some point of me being up it, I got it because i had seen tree pro's using similar and it carried the relevant Pro CE mark, undeterred i even tried to remedy its faults with spacing washers, large washers and even considered wingnuts, but then sanity struck, along with an unwilling disappointment, and i took it back realizing that i shouldn't have to do this to something with a safety mark on it,. To me i am now wary of something carrying such a mark, i've know idea how this slipped through the net, if indeed it did!!,..it was a farce...so ,you know what i did??.. i'll tell yer, on the strength of this thread, i took myself off to my local builders merchants, Jubilee, in Bracknell, and tried out the tripod ladder they had, no CE granted, but secure definitely.(aswell as light, and rapid to put up to height) So now i've got one of them and am much happier for it. thanks for all the advice, i'll get the ball rolling by getting in touch with the TO and LA, i have some climbing gear, harness, caribinas, flip line, an addtional lanyard, some split tails..but my experience is limited, i got it in preparation for climbing course and some private practice with my collegue, and my insurance does provide cover for working upto 10metres, but your right geoff, the job does need to be done efficeintly and safely by experienced worker, my pal 'ill cover it i reckon, although he's keener to do less climbing these days, i just wanted the info to ascertain whether i actually needed work to be carried out by a unique specialist in TPO work really, as i was asked by a customer today for some professional information, whilst veiwing a garden work contract. Thanks i got plenty to go on.
