  1. Bolt croppers used on most of the paddlocks and the cover over the lock on the container but also metal bar to pry a door that had mortice lock with hasp and staple.
  2. Sorry to say I don't knowingly know either, but I may well have crossed paths with the bodgers as it tends to be a very small world.
  3. Sorry to say that is another lesson i've learn't the hard way, would have been handy for when the police turned up as they didn't have a clue about what the stuff was. In future I'll be keeping a lot more photo's.
  4. Thanks for letting us know, appriciated
  5. Security already beefed up a bit but as the yard is council owned I'm waiting to see wether they have the money to properly replace the doors with something more substational or wether they will bodge a repair. Know which way that will go.
  6. Many thanks for the above thread, not only a brilliant idea but also made me laugh, first time today. Thanks
  7. Based at Norsey Wood in Billericay
  8. My yard in Essex broken into last night, they cut and broke through 5 locks damaged my shipping container and also the door to a lock up and stole gransfors bruks splitting maul and carving axe, Engish side axe, fuel container and also 12 traditional walking sticks mainly with antler & buffallo horn handles. The odd thing is they let behind various power and hand tools, arc welding kit and thankfully my log splitter. Hope that if they use the splitting maul they make a mistake because it was well honed with enough weight to do some real damage.
  9. Many thanks for your advice and your spot on about where the pictures are held in the computer.I know there in there but where. I got the pictures I wanted posted onto the forum, not sure quite how but it worked. I think a little spare time trying up load pictures will pay dividends later. Many thanks
  10. Not bad, nicely laid back but could do with a slight adjustment, but i'll wait to a few people have sat on it and got some feedback before any alterations.
  11. During the Christmas period, I came across a nice peice of sweet chestnut in one of my stacks that was to good to be cut and split for future firewood, so made the following. The pattern of the grain is even better than in the pictures. Any comments good or bad be appricated.
  12. Many thanks for the above, I will give it a try later
  13. can someone please help, I have been trying for the last hour or more to put a picture on the carving forum with no success. Could someone tell me in very simple terms how to put photo's onto the forum. If it helps the pictures I'm trying to put on are on the saved on the software CAMEDIA. Many thanks
  14. I initally took that customers to be honest, but a few of them are not. Learn't the hard way to take COD wether it's firewood or product. In certain situations I ask for payment up front. It comes back to that a few customers don't feel that they should have to pay for wood as it just sits there in large piles for a long time so it must be free. Hope that you get your money.
  15. The above is 100% right, keep manual handling to a minimum. Also there are customers out there that BBQ all year round once they know that you have it in the winter. Sold 20 bags this month Best wishes to all for the new year
  16. I do have pictures but don't know how to upload them onto the forum, any advise, but also looking after my very active 11 month old grandson today so it may take a while
  17. I currently do firewood and charcoal and the firewood gives a far better return and also there is a larger demand. Bad summer nobody BBQ'S and your competing against cheap imports (normally bad quality). After saying all that when I'm charcoal making either through full size kiln or through 45 gallon drums i'm also working on other projects so there is a balance. If you are wanting to try the market on a small scale without spending serious money on a kiln the use of 45 gallon drum is great. Cost nothing and depending on type of wood and moisture content can yeld 3-5 bags each time, which I tend to have 3 on the go at a time. Hope that helps
  18. As a bad Land Rover driver I tend to find them quite often. Try to get the ones that have not had a hard life as the smallest amount of plastic sticking out catches the bags and drives you made
  19. Tried the wooden box idea but the logs tend to jam. Currently using a square traffic cone cut in half, just have to make all edges smooth so that it doesn't catch on the bags
  20. 14 dumpy bags this month up on last year, but a lot down on net bags, I think some customers are seeing the benefit of larger volumes
  21. Belfairs sounds a lot nicer than Tillingham. Is Belfairs still pollarded or has it gone over to coppice.
  22. Sorry to say I've not been to either Belfairs or Tillingham, must find the time to visit other woodlands but its quite difficult to go to other places when your in such a nice one. Even take my springer collie cross walking there when I'm not working
  23. Billericay, Norsey Wood, very lovely place to work but I'am biased.
