  1. have you seen 1 that your thinking of buying? ive had 1 for nearly 3 years. 2001 model. and ive been happy with it. they are very well built,(think the saying is overbuilt) as the are american machines. Its never broken down on me yet. Like all machinery if you take care of it, it will work well. I change/sharpen blades every 50 hrs and same for filters. grease point every week. never let it get low on diesel (learnt the hard way on that). The bad point is is heavier than timberwolfs. but i think theres a timberwolf thread or 2on the site so read up on there faults also. Also as matty says with the wheelbase get 1 that has the wheels outside not under the body of the chipper as these 1s or more stable.
  2. never mind coffee tables, saw this in a furniture shop window today, priced at £1599...think im throwing my stump grinder away.

  4. If your groundys been worked for you before why do you need to employ them? Sounds a bit harsh but overheads walk on two feet.
  5. We have a husky SG13 and for the the stumps in back gardens its a good little machine. Brought 3 years ago for around £3500, not had any trouble apart from drive belts snapped once, but its easy to maintain/access. Looked at the Danequip but decided on the husky due to the adjustable handles which allow you to grind the stump right down without getting onto a step ladder to keep hold of the handles. Two people can lift it onto the back of the truck. Bad points are as its belt driven you lose power, but as long as you keep the teeth sharp/bearing greased your not forcing the machine too much. Which ever one you get I recommed the teeth sharpening disc,s people sell. Saves us replacing teeth every few stumps. Hope this helps
  6. Have a similar payment terms in my t&c, dates, interest, etc..but it's all a bit toothless due to all the hassle of really following it to the end, so i let the customer pay that little bit later and get my money. Dont know how much card machines cost, or how well they cope falling off the dashboard or sawdust getting into them...sawdust seems to wreck all my mobile phones!
  7. I allow payment through bank transfer at the moment, but feel it sometime allows customers to delay paying for that little bit longer, but i do get payed in the end. like the paypal idea, only ever used paypal through ebay. Is it the same arrangement /system?
  8. A few weeks ago, the banks decided that they will phase out cheques over the next few years. How will this affect our customers? Most of my work is domestic so, i am payed by cheque alot. Maybe what will happen is everyone will now pay me in cash...sounds good
  9. thanks skyhuck, i'll stop being nosey now and go and talk to my accountant!
  10. hmrc website mentions "tax credits" on dividends under £37k so this cancels out tax needed, is this what you've found?
  11. skyhuck, how long have you been a ltd company?
  12. the only reason i see, is if you are nearing the 40% tax bracket. i changed from sole trader to ltd, coming up to 1st year end, and are now thinking of changing back to sole trader! my situation has changed over the year so turnover is down and with corparation tax @ 21% and dividend tax @ 10% (under £37K) will end up paying more tax than if i just payed income tax @20%. if you have any employees on paye, you must tell hmrc the ltd company is paying their tax/ni, not you as a sole trader.
  13. just checked result, could log in last night. well chuffed, thanks to all the prize donations
  14. Thanks all. Have enough people now. Matt
  15. A comercial client of mine asked if I could carry out some work for them in Euxton. The work is reducing overgrown mixed hedge (hawthorn/elder etc).work is usually at shopping centre car-parks Its too far for me to travel, so mentioned I would post it here to see if anyone local to area is interested. Client is a good payer, I've had work off them for 5 years and never any probs. What I'll do is just pass on your info.
