  1. When you reply to a post (not quick-reply), below the text box is an 'additional options' section and about halfway down that there's a 'Manage attachments' button, click it, then click one of the Browse buttons, find the image which is on your computer, and repeat with the other buttons labelled Browse until you have all the pictures you need, then click Upload. They will automatically be attached to the post when you click 'Submit reply'

  2. It does make sense I suppose, since the cutter head is slightly sloped downwards. Using a smaller file would stop you compromising the strength by gradually filing down towards the metal surrounding the rivet. But at the same time it could cause the working corner to become a 'hook' and not cut as efficiently.

They could go so far as to say you must use a slightly smaller file every time you sharpen it!

  3. Keyloggers can only pinch your details/passwords if you actually type them AFTER it infected your system. Thought i'd mention that to lessen the panic if anybody downloaded it.

I get emails from the bank too =\ I worry for all those not in the know.

  4. The position of the pith as it appears in the picture in the first post. ( Pith...google it:001_smile: )

The growth rings continue to form but with an "eccentric' centre....This tells us something of the forces that the tree was under at the time this wood was "laid down" as we arbs are so keen on saying!! ( which put another way means "formed" )

Interesting. Is it also true that if that image were a hunk of conifer, the tension/compression sections would be on opposite sides? I remember being taught that under pressure, conifers build 'triceps' and broadleaves build 'biceps' of extra wood to deal with it, making it appear as though the heartwood is offset.

  5. We're using one of those as a backup just to get it to switch on, we don't like to use it to start the thing though because it doesn't fit right and it feels like we're not doing the ignition much good.

The ones that we've had in the past are slightly shorter, wider and have a little black grip, can't find them anywhere though.
