  1. Horrible tragedy. I knew the lad in question, Mark, not well but I met him a couple of times through mutual friends. He asked me a load of questions about treework every time I met him- he always seemed really keen to get into the arb industry having mostly just done odd bits of gardening work: as far as I know he had no training or tickets but I imagine he'd have jumped at the chance to go and do what he saw as some proper tree work. Looks fairly clear from the photos what happened, lack of experience being a big factor. Dead at 23 for the sake of a daft few quid- it shouldn't happen to anyone. Hate hearing about anything like this anyway but it's especially shocking when it's so close to home. Thoughts are with his family, can't imagine what they must be going through. RIP. (btw how're you doing Richie? Been meaning to get in touch with you, I've still got your prussik/karab from that job a while back, sorry mate- kept forgetting about it- I'll drop em round next time I'm over that way.)
  2. Bump! Still looking for odd days here and there, anyone??
  3. Bump. Haway fellas, someone round here must be in occasional need of a hard-working experienced freelance climber, fully qualified, got ND currently studying for HND, full quota of nptc units. Happy to work anywhere between tees and tweed, possibly further afield.
  4. Hi all I'm looking for odd days subby climbing work, got all relevant nptc tickets (not utility) and ipaf operator's licence. Decent climber, can take on any job. All my own kit and saws. Full public liability insurance. Call Dan on 07429113990 Cheers! Ps based in Gateshead but willing to travel within reason.
  5. If anyone's interested PM me for details. I'm trying to find someone as replacement for myself-it's probably going to involve mostly line clearance so UA1 would be an advantage but not a pre-requisite. Based in Newcastle.
  6. Try and get in with one of the bigger firms as they'll probably give you more opportunity to do a bit of climbing as well as dragging brash. As for learning how to do reductions etc if you're working with experienced climbers just watch what they do and learn from them-it's not rocket science you'll soon pick it up! Also just take any opportunity to get a bit of climbing practice in-maybe just head out and do a bit of rec climbing at weekends. All the best anyway...
  7. Considering how much you've taken off I'd say that looks pretty well spot on. And if the guy asked you to reduce it as much as possible and he's complaining about that then he'd probably have complained no matter what you did. Nice job I reckon.
  8. Cheers mate-I sent him a message the other day so I'm just waiting on hearing something back. Oh and I should really have included contact details in the original message: my phone number's 07599794077 or email [email protected]. Or just send a PM. Thanks Dan
  9. Experienced, hard-working and skilled climber seeking work-either self-employed or full-time contracted-in the North East/North Yorks/Borders. I'm based in Tyneside but willing to travel, all relevant NPTCs, ND Arb, all PPE, climbing gear and saws. Can start asap-any help/advice/job offers greatly appreciated! Cheers Dan:001_smile:
