  1. cheers

waz. no joy at fountains but not tried tilhill yet.

lumberjack. dunno about 'desperate for tree surgeons', theres far fewer companies (obviously as theres far fewer people), but if youve got tickets youd have no probs finding work. they dont have the training and certification like us so alot of british lads go over and do ok for themselves. took me a while to save up for the flight but less than a week to find work when i was there. free digs too (in the bosses garage like but beggars cant be choosers). do it, best thing ive ever done.

theres no way im goin back to painting and decorating after gettin a taste of tree work.

anyway, i digress, anyone takin on?

  2. ello

im fairly new to the industry and so struggling somewhat. ive about 18 months experience, ground and aerial work (incl 7 months in NZ) plus a year at college. tree work is all i wanna do and im gutted i didnt start earlier, when there was more work. coming from rock climbing stock, i am fit and strong and i love getting stuck in and working hard (heard it all before i know).

If anyone can offer me advice on finding work, knows of anyone who might give me a chance, or, dare i say, could offer me a job please send me a pm.

ill perform any duties (within reason) for 50 pound a day and would be willing to work a weeks free trial. I live in Bolton and will travel anywhere in the north west for work.

    cheers

  3. i live in my own little world, i get up in the morning make alexander breakfast and go to work, i cut down trees and come home. i dont buy papers or watch the news, if i do it depresses me and i end up feeling crap because someone on the otherside of the world has had a bad day, i cant save the world, and it can be harsh, but no one helps me when the chips are down so i reap all my own reward for my family. i have never voted, and dont plan too, i dont know enough about it and feel everyone is out to line their own pockets. fair enough. the sun will rise, the sun will set. brambles will be jaggy and this job will give me a sore back, that i can handle. the worlds problems glamourised and shoved in our faces to keep us scared and locked in our houses afraid of everything, i cant. big brother is made out to be more important than wars around the world, and jeremy kyle could probably be voted in as prime minister if he wanted. not for me. i am going to go and have a fire up the woods with my boy and make spears, hope your wife and new kiddy will be safe and well soon mate, and you are in my thoughts. all the best franky my boy:001_smile:

    good man:beerchug:

  4. Great,

Bartlett is well respected. Good to hear the qualifications will be recognized, I can contact the college too on that, or ISA. Whats the area like where the arboriculture / forestry courses take place? I.e demographics, etc.

pretty rural part of lancashire. lots of little towns dotted about (garstang/longridge) and lots of countyside/woodland. the pennine moors are close by and the lake district national park isnt too far away. the college is about a 20/30 minute drive from preston city centre.

  5. im half way through fdsc arb there. great college. good resources, very very good tutors (on the whole), well organized. the library however doubles as a creche and you often need to fight your way through hoards of little pikie whippersnappers on agricultural day release. arb department is one of, if not the best in the country... so they claim.

  6. hi

im still desperately in need of work in the north west region. im qualified and have ground and aerial experience. will work for minimum wage and even work free week trial if nessessary. i have transport/ppe/climbing gear. send me a pm or ring 01204691889 and ask for rob. thanks

  7.

You can self-tend with a Blakes but you need another small prussik hitched onto the attachment end of your rope, ie, spliced eye, then attach that to the micro pulley.

You can then pull up the rope hand over hand.

you'd need to undo it when you come to change over though wouldnt you?

  8. yeh true there are miles and miles of vineyards which started to wind me up. alot of the work we did was shelterbelts. the company covers the whole of the marlborough region so we had some work out on the sounds which was amazing. outrageously beautiful. we had a contract with the council to maintain the street and park trees. plus lots of residential work.

nah atree i just spent 8 months working over there. loved every minute.

  9. David james tree services in blenheim should have work. largest outfit in the north of the south island (i think). bout 15 employees. all sound blokes. good kit too. left there a month ago. otherwise aspludh, treescape or Arborcare in tauranga.

sandflies are preet rough too, worse than midgies. the absolute scum of the animal kingdom

  10. im currently looking for work as a groundie/trainee climber in lancashire/ gtr. manchester. i am based in bolton but have my own transport.

i am reliable, honest and a hard worker.

    have own climbing kit, PPE

    willing to work long hours.

drop me a pm or ring 07799356752
