  2. hi folks I have been looking at some footlocking vids on u tube and was wondering when peeps footlock up the doubled rope do they use a normal prusik wrapped around the double rope or is there anything else going on?

  4. hi sheph i was reading in a thread you worked in copenhagen and wondering if youve any work contacts over there.i ve worked in denmark before doing crimbo trees but fancy some proper tree work been on the saw for 20 years and climbing for 4.cheers buddy
  5. try wess spur only 250 dollars against 250 quid really quick delivery usually about a week get tree gaffs not pole and you will be well happy
  6. thanks everyone.different bits of gear=different techniques ,got some good ideas to play with
  7. thanks for the replies folks, any input is really appreciated. If you watch the video the climbers feet are in contact with the trunk as he ascends. Imagine his top anchor was away out on a limb and he couldn't come into contact with the trunk/tree at all (like a spider dangling on one strand). That's what I was finding difficult to do (ie with no contact with the tree).
  8. decided to try the hitch climber pully tree manager set up, using a schwabish (I think that's how you spell it!) prussik. It works well in the canopy when my feet are in contact with the tree, but I found it was really difficult to ascend when I had no contact at all with the tree, just dangling on my rope and sitting in my harness. Using an old prussik, I used to grab the rope between the prussik knot and the karribiner with my right hand and push the prussik with my left and could ascend the rope relatively easy, but I couldn't really acheive this with the schwabish and pully. Does anyone else have this sort of problem, or is it just me? Cheers folks, Ola
  9. thanks for the replies .Its the knife early tomorrow......
  10. its a marlow geko and strands have been severed where spike entered and exited
  11. hi folks put a spike thro a rope today right thro the centre and coming out other side.how safe is the rope? I was thinking of hot knifing thro the rope and removing say 3m and losing the eye and using bowline instead. Any thoughts welcome thanks olabola
