  1. I had a client a few years ago who was losing a privet hedge to Honey fungus.

She used something called, I think, Bray's emulsion. I arrived one day to find that section of her garden smelling strongly of phenol/Jeye's fluid where she'd treated the soil.

The infected section of the hedge never worsened and it seemed to halt the spread of A. mellea completely.

I have a feeling Armillatox was based on similar petro-chemicals.

  2. Not wanting to sound to morose but how many of you are living with injuries sustained in this industry?

I'll start. Whitefinger caused by holding on to revvy 2 strokes since the age of 16.

Smashed teeth from top coming out of dead elm when climbing...pre helmet days.

Broken vertabrae from tractor winching accident.

Crushed foot when lowering crotch broke and rope trapped foot with section of pop on the end.

Now takes me at least an hour in the morning to stop aching but still climbing as fast as I always was..I think:001_smile:

  3. I tried to sell some a while ago...good lengths about 4' dia and couldn't find anyone interested which seemed a shame.

Still got some which I'm now carving. There's always firewood market which is desperately short at the moment. Probably spits a bit though.

  4. I've been on the dole once, for 6 months. The dole is absolute hell. Can't go anywhere cant do anything cant buy anything. I'm not talking about the small minority's who have grabbed the attention of the country through the sensational reporting of the tabloids. Most Claimants are not having a great time, and we don't know why people are claiming. i think it would be arrogant to tar everyone with the same brush. Especially when there is only very poor reporting to back up such claims. There are a few tree surgeons about to lose work and or one reason or another they may have to start claiming dole. Are they spongers, are we all spongers of the future. If anyone chooses to be on the dole over having ajob, then the're welcome to it. For that amount of people it will cost me 10p a year.

We could just eliminate unemployed, terminally ill, mentally and physically disabled, insane, poor, ugly, gay, jewish, Arab, blacks, communist and gypsies as these are the usual groups that are picked on. A small man from Austria had a similar idea a few years ago and many British soldiers lost their lives fighting such ideas. If you have a problem with any of these groups above I see you as a traitor to this country and the ideals we have lost lives protecting. There are some evil people walking around, who are responsible for murder torture and rape. Our own country has it's own population of criminals living it up with champagne every day. Leave the Vicky pollards alone, their lives are **** enough already.

To be honest the small amount of money we can attribute to lazy claimants is minuscule. If we you I are really bothered about people who are essentially stealing from us, we should bother to aim our sites at the biggest targets. does this not make sense. Anyone can pick on the weakest in society. It's called bullying where I come from. Like I said either your bothered or you have another Axe to grind. Look for references in any reporting.

John gummers annex is to the right of the house towards the field as you look at it. It's in keeping with the house, not badly done. This was about 15 years ago. I was planting an avenue of trees in his garden. I had a chat with his body guards. What a horrible man.

    Quite worn out now.

Here, here. Don't forget in these times many of us are a whisker away from 'the dole', repossesion etc.

  5. Anyone got any experience of diesel engine chip tuning? I know all the theory but has anyone had positive or negative experiences they wish to share? I'm thinking of chipping my L200 to up it from 113bhp to 140 odd to help with mpg and towing...

Been thinking along same lines with my L200. Seems to be contrasting views on this so would be good to hear from anyone who's done this.

Removal of the 'cat' and inserting straight pipe seems to be popular.

  6. I'll add another to this list. Your High St bank.

After the debacle that has recently come to the fore then you'd think they'd be cutting back on their 'Champagne party binges'.

Not a bit. I know someone....high flyer in business banking... that still attends these parties. It's ok though because now a charitable do and booked in a persons name rather than the Bank's.

  7. It'll end up like the organic meat trade.

Unless you know it's parents names and can certify it enjoyed its existence prior to being caught (in a painless and stressless way) then it's off the menu. It's enough to turn me vegan:001_smile:

  8. Think the best I've had is £100 so must have been too cheap to start with!

Nicest pay was £600 a day climbing on a rush job to get a project opened on time and that was 10 years ago.
