what's useless and malicious?
take a look through the posts on this forum not just this particular topic people openly admitting to selling for some beer money imo beer money is undeclared money maybe you see it differently that's your prerogative, a malicious report would be to send in someone's details you know to be honestly trading.
what's wasting time in reporting people cheating the system?
as to what they would do with this forum I doubt very much they would even look at it, but see how fast it silenced these honest people.
Maybe you should have a few beers yourself and chill out.
You say your sales are down 60%.
To be honest, if your attitude in the real world is anything like it is on this thread, then I'm not surprised.
If word gets around locally that you have the HMRC on speed dial it wont help your business much either.
You need to look at YOUR business and see what the best way forward is, and stop concerning yourself with what others are doing/not doing.

Maybe the OP's 'start up business' is being a middle man that seeks out work, gets a contractor to do it and adds a % on top of the final price for himself.
If this is the case, there isnt a whole lot wrong with it I suppose.

Because the person i originally met was just a front man, he sounded as Yorkshire as me! The bloke who rang a week later was clearly Irish! He even claimed another company had said they would put it right for 100quid! Utter rubbish as the other firm was run by a m8 of mine who had never seen the job. You live and learn, sure everyone has been stung at some point, just hope others will also learn from this too.
So the man that pulled the wool over your eyes was not an Irish Traveller then, but a Yorkshire man.

I agree there was stuff I questioned but once on site it all made sense, house hard to find so meet in layby right outside the property, house is flooded hence why nobody is in, he even had the nerve to walk me around the house, saying they had had it 2 years before it flooded etc, very convincing. It's not until the fake property owner rang me did it become clear what was going on.
But if they were 'Travelling scum' why did you even think about doing the job

Great old tractor, they were well ahead of their time with good solid cabs etc.
As said, great yoke to pull too.
The brakes were always the weak link in them, but if its priced right I would get it bought.

Jason might well be better off, it must be bad enough working for someone with the mentality of the OP, but he also had the wife to deal with.

That MF372 is surely a trifle unusual.
An import perhaps?
I am not a MF fan but still kinda know the commoner older models. . .
PS
The 390 is missing the "T"
There are a few 372's around alright, the 362 would be more common though.
Plenty of non turbo 390's around too.
Some very nice gear there, will make good money I'd say.

So the Nissan would appear to have the edge on payload - legally.
Other than driving style, are there many pro's/cons to having the cab over engine configuration rather than the tradition tranny style of van?
In the event of an accident I'd prefer have an engine/chassis in front of me.

Has anyone had experience of changing the gear selector spring,on MF390 12/12 Shuttle gearbox,I believe it is big job,and that is putting it mildly,as the gearbox has to be stripped down!!!!
Big job alright, to put in a spring that costs a few quid!
Tractor has to be split anyway, if the clutch etc is anyway worn, change it while you are at it.

I'd only buy one if it had a conveyor attached. As handy as they are, without a conveyor you may as well just use a chainsaw horse.
Adding a conveyer triples the price though and brings you into s/h processor territory.

How times change, there was a time not so long ago if someone mentioned importing firewood on here they would be vilified!

Very impressive kit Stephen.
You might have mentioned it already, but what make is the grab?

Works Massey 135. No brakes, dodgy steering and wont change gear whilst moving but its reliable and does the job!
Scarce enough tractor there I'd say.

Maybe its Robin Hood thats taking it

I wouldnt read everything on here, I mostly keep to the Firewood Forum so I'm not really aware of a lot thats being discussed here.
I think its very important on any forum though that all views are welcome, just because someone has a different opinion doesnt mean they are being 'Negative', it means they disagree with the other person and surely this is what a forum is all about
I came across a thread the other night where the OP told another member that he didnt want him posting on his thread because he was bringing 'Negativity'. From what I could see the member was merely giving his opinion, I think if people start dictating that they only want back clapping replies, it would be a slippery slope.

I think the OP could start a new trend...
Builders Labourers running around sites with wheelbarrows, Removal men running back into the house to fetch the next box, Postmen running from door to door, shop assistants running down the aisle to restack the shelves...
Run Forrest Run!

Could be a 148

Superb a proper usefull bit of kit. Surprising how the smaller trailers with no sides or ramps you can save weight over the 18ft triaxle things you see about.
That is a tri axle though!

I might be all wrong here, but they dont look like Irish Travellers to me.

Very Tidy!
What was the donar vehicle?
Looks like a Terrano/Maverick

any input on best model for best / max cutting capabilty?
looked at Posch...
what are thoughts on this?CROSSFER LOG SAW 700 mm , Petrol Motor 13hp Professional! trailer connection | eBay
The fact that its not a genuine Honda engine would be enough to put me off.

Is 1 cube equate to 1 dumpy bag?
No, but I can see where some of the confusion comes from!

See page 20 here, the adjuster screw might be vibrating loose, happened mine once.
The end of firewood?

I did read it
Maybe I was wrong, and 'shop your neighbour' is the way to grow your business after all.
