  1. Hi all. Just qualified for cs30/31, and in the next 3 weeks will have received training for aerial rescue and chainsaw from rope and harness (Will be unlikely to have gained certificate for those by then though as more experience is likely to be needed) Will also have lantra certs for stumpgrinder and chippers. I run my own gardening business at the mo and am diversifying. What im wanting is some tree surgeons around me who need someone to help out doing cross cutting and the like, climbing etc, to help me with experience. Best, Gareth, Lawn and Leaf.
  2. Hi - Been wondering about these shredders for a while now. They are billed as shredders but can cut timber to. This one can do 7cm, while the larger ones can do larger timber (obviously). Anyone had a play with any of this range of machines? http://www.mowwithus.com/pro4.html
  3. Its funny you should say that because a 5" bearcat chipper shredder was what i was looking at as well!
  4. Thank you very much for all your insights on this - experience is great teacher indeed.
  5. Thanks John, I see. With regards to the variety of material I could put through a chipper if i could find a small Tow able chipper with both a hydraulic roller and an angled hopper for the small stuff then its something to think about, though i would have to be more careful with it than with a shredder.
  6. Peter - Yes I have, thanks. What has made me decide not to get one is their weight. I might yet get a 5" bearcat chipper/shredder, but im sorry to say that my experience with them (Well, Countax I suppose) has been frustrating which has turned me off them somewhat. Still, its something to think about.
  7. Do you mind if I ask why you recommend a chipper rather than a shredder John?
  8. Aha, thank you John - But one of the good things for me about shredders is that they tend to be lighter, and yours looks pretty heavy, all be it meaty! My Transit is an 85ps (Lowest engine) so i think we will have to pass on that one! In fact i wouldn't try to pull anything more than 750kg with it.
  9. Hi there... Ive been keeping my eye on this forum for a while to pick up 'hints and tips' but this is one question that I haven't seen discussed previously though. Basically, I'm doing a lot of thinking about the right solution to disposing of the waste my small company generates. I'm not a dedicated tree surgeon however - most of my work currently comes from hedge trimming work, and while the proportion of tree to hedge work may change in the future, I will always do hedges. What I want in a machine is for it to be able to chew up all my hedge waste and also to chew up branches if and when the need arises - So I have been looking at shredders. The two ranges i have found that are interesting to me are made by negri and caravagi. Do any of you have experience with these machines, and what do you think of them? Here is the caravagi one that seems best suited to me; http://www.caravaggi.com/bio250.htm It will only take 4", but will take 8" wide, so should deal with forks well. And here is the full Negri range; http://uktractor.co.uk/machinery/component/option,com_virtuemart/page,shop.browse/category_id,18/Itemid,35/
