  1. Recently bought a saw off ebay, got home filled it up and seemed to be working fine. Took it out a few days later to cut some leylandi started, idled and kept dying out. Checked all the usual things spark plug, fuel and air filter, starter cord and spring, i didnt want to go fiddling about with the carb or anythin as i haven't had a lot of experience.

Took it to my nearest Stihl dealer after a days work with my usual saw, its not my prefered dealer but it is a lot closer! they penciled it in told me they would give me a call once they looked at it and if i would pay on delivery to which i replied yes and asked for a rough estimate.

She replied "i'm not sure, we charge £49 an hour plus VAT and any parts on top of that." :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Is that the norm? i'm sure i can get it done a hell of a lot cheaper at the other dealer or even a bloody garden centre!

  2. Been using a pair of Elten Aquafell's for a couple years now and have to say they're really nice, once i got them worn in (after a few days) i found myself using them for more than work. Decided to buy myself a pair of Husqvarna technical boots havent used them yet but they will get a bit of work soon. Both of which are higher length boots as i havent been doing any climbing yet.

  3. Thanks for the response guys. Been having a look at the Log Storage thread and deciding what kind of setup to go for. Having access to a large amount of softwood it looks like i will offer two different products at appropriate prices when the time comes around, until then looks like i'll hav to sharpen the axe.

    Cheers,

  4. Hi Guys,

Been thinking about starting supplying firewood for next winter once the snow is past :sneaky2: whenever that will be. Quite new to it appart from the logs i have cut for home use. I have access to quite a lot of Leyland Cypress and other softwood would this be okay? the Leyland burns alright at home but maybe i'm not too fussy :001_rolleyes:

What sort of price would you be looking at selling a bag for (say 520x850mm) probably a tricky question if its like most things its changing all the time

Any help would be appreciated, just a thought to see if its viable.

    Cheers,

  5. Hi guys,

Been a while since i've posted on here forgot what im missing.

I recently sat my CS30/CS31 through Mearns and Angus (now to be Ringlink) and am looking to do my CS32 and CS34 next year. Ringlink seem to run them more in the Angus area, i dont mind the travel but it does add a bit to the cost especially since it's coming out of my own pocket. Anyone have an suggestions of other training providers that work in my area or just worth the trip?

    Cheers,

  6. Hi all,

Currently sitting my NC forestry before starting my HND arboriculture. Looking to buy my first chainsaw, spoken to a few people asking what they prefer between Husky saws and Stihl, seems to just be personal choice. What would you reccomend? Have been looking at the Husqvarna 346xp and the Stihl ms240. Any difference between quality and preformance? Any other suggestions would be great.

    Thanks,

    Jay
