  1. Do you think using this type of equipment is cost effective. Does it increase your work rate enough to justify the cost. Don't really have much experience with them but would be interesting to see a study on it. Something for the FdSc Arbs maybe Mark?

  2. Whats the MTV (mean tree volume), average timber height, total volume/ha and access. I wouldn't go into it with out know these right from the start. What do you mean by grade 5? There is the potential for quite a bit of money to be made. If there is only just over 100 stems in a couple of acres i would assume a fairly mature crop?

  3. You could try CRL (coppice resources ltd) they deal with drax power station, although they mostly work with biomass crops its worth a go. Used to be based up near retford. Where is it being cut. Im based near Spilsby at the moment if you are every in need of a sub contractor.

  4. I was interested to find out that the college has recruited another instructor/technician that only graduated this summer. Although I don't doubt his ability, surely more experience is needed for this full time position, or is the college getting desperate and taking on more students than it and the industry can cope with or needs. My experiences at the college revealed an unofficial policy of quantity over quality. This isnt a reflection on you or Jonny but rather the upper management who seem to be growing the establishment beyond it limits. Rant over.
