Hi, mentioned this a while back but didn't think we would get job, and now we have. We mainly do tree surgery but got asked to clear a wood of fallen trees and hung up trees (mainly from last winter)

Species are Beech, Birch, Cherry and Ash

Roughly there are 6 Beech around 24 -36inch dbh, five Cherry, around 18inch dbh, then 3 Birch 12 -18inch dbh and one or two Ash around 16 inch dbh

all trees above are woodland grown, and around 60-80 foot and still sound for firewood

also got a stand of larch with 10 dead in amoungst it, again around 60-80 foot

and finally three large field hedge oaks and a large dead Chestnut that have got to come down.

I am guessing that the field grown stuff especially the chestnut is probably no use to any one commercially? not sure about the larch (still solid)

but would the other woodland timber be worth us cutting to length, stacking roadside and selling for firewood, or is there not enough? - and its not exactly easy processor size

if any one is interseted please let me know as starting today and would be interested to know what length to cut timber to for firewood (2.5m?)

will be extracting with a timber trailer, so if anyone very local, we could deliver

can you go there and tip green waste. I have been using reviva, but they are just rude ignorant people too big for their boots. Do they take fencing?

Yes take normal green waste and fencing, but fencing a bit more expensive per tonne. Can't have arris rail brackets or bolts or concrete in it but nails and screws fine. Cheapest I can find near me

Local company, country compost limited in Harefield, Hertfordshire, don't think they cover a very big area though

Push up with the tractor into a huge pile at yard, then local green waste place comes out with a 40 yard roll on off skip and waits while I load it. Takes a lot in one skip when pushed down with bucket, especially as it's started composting at the back - 350 + vat all in

Yes we did 2 as they got smaller, but the big ones were easier if you put the a t on its end against the ring, with the frame just under either side of the ring, then pull a t down to horizontal and off you went, as you say they would kill a wheel barrow, and you have to lift them, this way there is just a bit of man handling but no lifting, happy days

We moved this entire Cedar through a gate and onto the tractor forks a ring at a time, made it so easy, love it on certain jobs, would not say we use it that often, but on some jobs it is worth its weight in gold, much like the grcs

Will let you know on wed, taking down a large Cedar and getting a demo from green plant of the 230, going to run it against our 150 and see how they compare

That's exactly how we do it on some trees, if we are not using spikes and throw line not easy, then ladders with a groundsman footing them until you tie in seems fine to me

My three trucks are on a fleet policy with trust insurance and my two tractors and telehandler were with nfu. Nfu price seemed to keep going up so local farmer recommended Farmer and Mercantile. They were very helpful and were nearly £500 cheaper. That included use for forestry and domestic tree work on one of the tractors, other two mainly do yard work

Gutted, mine arrived yesterday ready to play tomorrow, all smooth and again a very quick delivery from honey brothers. Used them alot and sure they would not try to palm you of with a duff one through mail order, hope it's sorted with out too much headache, just very frustrating when you get something new and shiny and is not right

Sorry to jump on this thread, but I have just been asked to look at this tree that dropped a large limb two days ago, it has failed due to included bark union and a lot of lateral weight, and taken nearly 50% of the main stem with it, leaving one very large vertical leader, and one of to the left (currently unaffected by tear) it is tpo but was going to recommend removal as a sensible reduction would not remove much weight or all affect, and it is over a garden in a new estate with big children's play area, reading this thread do people think I am being too hasty, I just feel although it's not too bad at the minute, root will now set in

Hi I have been asked to clear out a woodland near Little Chalfont in Buckinghamshire, mainly windblown Beech, Cherry, Oak and some Birch. Owner would like to sell if possible, just wondering if anyone would be interested for fire wood, would be able to stack roadside for artic collecting, or smaller lorry. Too much for us to take back to our yard. What specs would people need? Any help gratefully received. Peter

I have the same, a 2013 2.2 double cab limited. Great truck, not done much heavy towing, mainly chipper, but drives great and will also sit happily cruising on motor way and do 30mpg. Looks smart for work and quoting, and perfect for sticking family in too. Only issues were a intermittent fault on drivers window switch, loose rear view mirror trim and a very slight cough in second gear under acceleration, but these have all been sorted under warranty. Bit of a jump up from my 1996 double cab hilux! that unfortunately has to go due to London lez :-(

I got one made very similar by a company. Stuart Canvas. They generally do big truck ones but if you give them a spec and measurements I have found them very helpful and good on price
