  1. Mate...you need to step up a gear! You cannot beat rope on rope for no nonsense climbing with less to break provided you inspect your rope prussick krabs often...BUT....Mech tech is the way forward...i recently re pollarded a huge London Plane...not a hip thrust or prussick slide needed. For me it,s the S.j but Chris you gotta try a Hitch climber set up...once you sus it which shouldn,t take long you will never look back!...try hitch and if you like it then go Mech!

I was at houghall in 1993 doing nc arb , three strand nylon all the way:lol::lol:

  2. A first for me today after twenty years of spoiling trees, i dropped my saw onto my strop and when i went to pick it up again the saw had pinballed (target audience:001_tt2:) to the base of the tree leaving me with a saw strop that had come apart at the stitching. has any one else had this problem? confused1:

  3. Everyone needs a mog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbup1:just driving through a big woodland, squishing mushrooms, driving over mole hills, ramming big bits on rotten logs and over excessive reving is a must. 6 cylinder diesel running up a stainless pipe behind the cab, sweet sweet music:QUOTE]::thumbup:
  4. we've got normal grinders, this is for stumps and all roots to a depth of 450mm minimuim in a sensitive area where the surrounding soil cannot be disturbed ( can't be pulled out etc) apart from grinding, digging, lowering the machine into the hole and grinding again i cannot think of a way to do it apart from the mythical mini digger . i refer you to my last post and await your solutions:biggrin:

  5. In the ag trade too and i can tell you that they are legal in other countrys thats why there built ! why pay the extra well i guess its to get between jobs/fields /yard combine etc faster !

you can still buy most machines speced with 30 kph boxes !

use on motoryways as said befor is all down to construction and use regulations and lighting regs !

i know lots of 40 and 50 k front axle suspended trators used on the road ! how long before an accident happens and the investigation proves someone was going faster than 20mph/30kph in a machine which is lawfully only alowed to do that speed but has the potential for more?? (i have been as guilty of this in the past)

all food for thought etc !

in germany alot of farmers haul there own grain etc to the mills and stores with twin trailers etc and they are all 50 kph etc ! thats why we can buy them here the market is there weather the laws in one country suite the machine offered is neither here or there as an operator or employer its oyur duty to follow the rules and regs or you are liable !

as said before can of worms ! also if the agricultrual tractor is primarly used for haulage og goods then your into white diesel terotry again !

this is all a bit heavy for a friday night !

tired now, good night arbtalk my brain hurts:001_tt2:

  6. tree fella, unimogs are a cheaper faster way to get a big chipper to site, think about how many times you could use it now, they are not alot wider than a transit but are higher:001_tt2: . depending on the size of chipper you have on the back thy can be good for big takedowns or horrific thorny jobs, be careful offroad they will go anywhere but they do leave there mark:blushing:

    :blushing: True.

Although, who said I only wear them in work?:confused1:

They come in handy whilst shopping to toey dopey trolley pushers out the way and we always wear them at arb shows etc along with our chainsaw trousers to show we are real tree workers:sneaky2:::

  10. sorry to hear about that, we had a break in about a month ago and all they did was set our yard on fire. if you have an idea where the suspected culprits are staying try asking the police to search. we did about three years ago and got all our kit back witihn 12 hours. good luck fella and dont let the bas turds grind you down.
