  1. Another Fairy in the redwoods.
  2. Wonder how many from this board would stop by for some pole dancing in Humboldt county during their redwood trip ?? This is Quintessential Humboldt at night ... The redwood coast is a wild and untamed country.
  3. Avenue of the Giants, last week. Light at the end of the tunnel Just added a half dozen new pages to my www.mdvaden.com/grove_of_titans.shtml coast redwoods menu.
  4. Trillium Falls Trail ... Redwood National Park
  5. Go to his older website and find the contact for Beranek Publications LINK >>> www.atreestory.com If it can be shipped to the UK now, that's one way to ask.
  6. Barely got 4 pages into these books a couple days ago, and I decided to wait for my next redwood visit, a week from now, so I can really relax and enjoy. But the sample I read was exceptionally well written ... and reminded me of how some wines or foods improve with age. Gerald (w/ Mrs. B's assist) have released some very good publications already. But the pages of these latest books exudes a maturity that reminds me of how some plants or trees look beautiful for many years, but eventually reach some point where they produce a certain fruit or blossom that has been long anticipated. If you think along the lines of the Century Plant, etc., that's what I mean. Anyhow, I'm itching to get into these pages deeper. Bet everyone I cross paths with in Nor Cal will get a glimpse of these. Thank you ... wonderful work and photos.
  7. A few more days, and I will be be watching this redwood coast sky in the evening again. Just a few more paver patio block to lay, and I'm on my way.
  8. Heard the phrase before ... ?? "Bury me in Redwood Country"
  9. If you visit my redwood link in signature, note the Muir Woods in the menu. I quote the words "stress" as associated with that park during some months. Its more of a city park due to location, and the trees are nowhere close to the forests to the north. But you can get a shot in the arm of big trees in the Giant Sequoia, although most people I talk to, prefer Redwood National and State Parks Coast Redwoods to the Giant Sequoias. Yosemite always seems to get a thumbs-up.
  10. I would be worried if we did not get climate change. Climate change has been going on virtually forever. I'm sure 100% of scientists should believe that. If there is a problem it's not that climate changes, but that certain people want to try and keep the climate and conditions the same. When people realize that climate can and will change some, and allow for it, it will be easier to adapt and make changes.
  11. Here's a good book choice as an option to order and read before visiting the coast redwoods. by G. F. Beranek Coast Redwood, Tree of Dreams and Fortune
  12. We're selling our home, and probably moving south within 2 hrs. of the Coast Redwoods the next month or two.
  13. Another photo of a redwood called Grogan's Fault
  14. Most of my purchases are lenses, and Pro Photo in Portland often has prices close to Amazon.com. B&H is pretty good. I think I ordered one accessory from B&H, but most often use Amazon (no specialized to photography, but lists a lot of products anyway). If prices are somewhat close, I typically buy at Pro Photo about 19 blocks from the river and downtown Portland.
  15. Canon 5D Mk II and 60D presently. The last one may have been with a Canon T2i. A little bit with Lightroom and Photoshop. A photography buddy last night said to look into the new Sony A7r II that's one the way. And it adapts to Canon lenses too. Canon probably has the best glass overall with AF. I may consider the Sony, except the body is so small, it may be inconvenient to hand-hold for portrait work. A bigger body is handy to hold with one or two hands.
  16. In Richardson Grove ... established 1922. Southern Humboldt county near Avenue of the Giants.
  17. Jedediah Smith park. This trail has a lot of interesting shapes.
  18. That is not uncommon .. lol On another note, here's my recent switch from a pickup truck. New Ford van for work, and of course, the next redwood adventures.
  19. Think I posted this before, but I like the photo. In Prairie Creek .... literally ... at Prairie Creek Redwood State Park.
  20. One of the more recent finds in northern Humboldt. Taken from the opposite side of the small valley.
  21. I suspect you will be back sometime. Here's one from July 1st, taken from Pebble Beach Drive, Crescent City
  22. A lot of people come to Crescent City for July 3rd and 4th (Independence Day) holiday.
  23. One more print for the art festival at Crescent City (adjacent to Jedediah Smith redwood park). Most of my prints are redwood forest, but there are a few others like this.
  24. Thank you, David. Just two more days, and I get 4 days of wonderful cool coastal weather. And the big trees of course.
  25. Just got the 16 inch x 48 inch canvas print of the lighthouse at Crescent City. One of a dozen or more prints I'm taking to the arts festival there, July 3rd and 4th. I'll be in the area June 30th, so still plenty of time for hiking in the redwood parks.
