    Forestry operatives required for growing forestry and tree works company based in Abergavenny south Wales. Candidates must have a good attitude and ability to problem solve. Works include chainsaw operations, tree planting, herbicide application operations as well as grounds maintenance duties. Initially candidates will be self employed and payed on a piece rate basis for some duties. First aid certificate and nptc certificates preferred but not essential for the right candidate.

    Should work as it actively kills the wee beasties, we have used it on yew staves laid down for longbows and ash sawlogs. It kept everything off so it is cracking stuff even with the hefty price tag. Be careful when applying it though as cypermethrin is also a heavy duty neuro toxin. Ash

    Ash Forestry require both tree planters and coppice workers in mid February. Rates are dependent on experience and you MUST hold a current driving licence have access to your own transport and CS30, 31 minimum for coppicing (with a refresher if applicable). PA1 preferable for planting operatives though non essential. Sites are located within 35 miles of Abergavenny. Please Email a CV to [email protected] Thanks Tom

    You would be quite lucky to find some tbh, the one parcel we have lined up was sold before we even picked up the phone to sell it. Everybody wants it even the part loads are going... which is rare.

    Hi all, First thread on arbtalk having been a member for a while! Here are some shelves made from a southern beech (Nothofagus) I felled on the estate where I work and then milled with a mates Woodmizer LT15. Thought the wood looked quite nice. Would have been nicer without the bandsaw marks but the missus thought they were part of the character But thought it was some nice looking timber and would be worth a post!

    A hoppus foot is 1.273 normal cubic foot current price on oak is 2.50+. Depends on quality really if it's open grown (eg in the middle of a field) you might not even get that. the calculation is: Mid-quarter-girth (aprox halfway up the butt in inches) squared X length in feet divided by 144. I wish oak was 45 a cube! But grade A precision milled oak goes for 25 a standard cube. Hope that helps.
