  1. and it's too far for me - so i'll wait to see if there's a meet nearer to home (could always use our patch f wood)
  2. two great links - thanks guys i'm going to have a go at making charcoal - this winter, hopefully
  3. can anyone recommend a good way to make a homemade burner / kiln for charcoal production (small scale) i have a huge amount of wood that i can play with - just not sure how to get going i don't really want to do it the old fashioned way, with a large stack - so was wondering if i can do small loads using oil drums or something similar any tips greatly appreciated
  4. my three ratbags
  5. looks like a polyporus - but not sure which one
  6. euc's have a strong rowing habit - and can be kept to size and shape - but only with regular care and pruning a single leader grows like billy-o and if it gets damaged, it sends out another, and another it sounds as if it has been left too long between pruning and i would probably go for pollarding - but without seeing it in situ, it's hard to say for sure but even a pollarded euc would need regular pruning - to keep it under control
  7. i am in a similar position Justme - although i haven't got my small patch of woodland just yet (it's my inheritance ) 7 1/2 acres copse of mostly chestnut i will be needing plenty of advice - and i am very pleased to have found this site - i even dreamt about it last night - how sad is that
  8. fantastic carvings - great pics it's something i have always wanted to have a go at - but i don't think i could anything like that
