Speak to your local FC officer, they are normally really helpfull. Our one has been known to fill in the licence applications for us in the past! They are there to help, not hinder. They are also giving out grants for re-stocking and allowing natural re-gen, so worth looking into that. Always worth a quick call to the council to make sure they are not tpo, and you are not in a conservation area, which the FC like to know. Would definatley not reccomend even starting the saw without the licence in place though, normally takes a max of 6 weeks to sort out.

Did the 3 peaks challenge about 10 years ago. As STS says, good fun but hard work, Scafell was the worst from what I remember. Not much to look at and pretty hard going. We went from Bristol, and I think it took around 20 - 24 hours total, from Snowdon to Ben Nevis. We did it with a load of people from the Army, Royal Artillary I think, who were great fun and definatley kept everyone going. I would reccomend getting in as much walking practice as possible, hilly or not, and best if you go with someone so you can push each other on. Good luck, and the most important thing is to remeber to enjoy it!

A21 from Tunbridge Wells to Hastings, around the Staplecross area is great on 2 wheels, not much to look at but a wide, smooth, pot-hole and ironwork free road with lots of nice corners and hills. So is the A507 Baldock to Buntingford road. Unfortunately both are quite busy and heavily policed, but worth getting up for early on a Sunday!

Hi, we run one of these on a stihl fs80, with very good results. Great on bracken, bramble, saplings etc. Doesn't leave such a good finish on grass and thinner stuff though. Not to harsh round fences and stuff, as long as you don't go flat out. Think the fs80 is only around 25cc.
