    About to get a new lid, was gonna go for another Vertex Vent, any other recommendations? Anyone tried the Italian Treepro lids? Also, thinkin o tryin earplugs n mesh goggles, yay or nae? Cheers all

  3. hey philip, interested to read your post as i am after some advice re. trees as a new career, seeing as you have architecture as your original calling, how did you come to trees, how did you train and how did you find the route into climbing? i have invested all i have available at mo. on cs 30+31 and chipper tkts with some forestry commission and domestic wrk under my belt but still to climb and wondering if im too old in mid 30s? any advice greatly appreciated! thanks in advance, newton

  5. thought this thread would throw up some fun! on way home from job my radiator blew though! u can all imagine how laughable this was...but at least the holly will pay for repairs! musing on how mirrors breaking=bad luck was fostered by upper classes to ensure servants didnt drop em cos of their value...and thinking how holly as a valued burning wood by blacksmiths and turning wood for carvers would explain the legends...well thats a marxist take on folklore i guess! as it turned out this was holly/very mature honeysuckle and another to boot, tried to convince owner it simply needed thinned but they say fell...they are keen to plant a holly sapling to appease the spirits though, lol, good on em!
  6. i'm felling a holly tomorrow and by all folklore accounts this is very unlucky, sure i have felled one in past but now conscious of it and concerned! any one had any ill effects?!

  8. first experienced it in norway 4 years ago, think they call it moeriel or something similar (spelling undoubtedly wrong) 2 years ago in august on east lothian coast was just the same if not thicker. swimming in it is amazing, more you disturb the water brighter it sparkles! crazy n beautifull to see! as for gloworms, only seen them in norway too, so bright! didnt turn off when got near tho... what a great thread, i wanna take up fishin again, ah summer nights with a line in the loch... know how im relaxing nxt wkend!

(think i introduced myself in wrong thread previously) arb newbie here based in midlothian started this year with a few nptc's, had some forestry comm, domestic and commercial wrk since, looking for entry level work now. doing lantra tree survey and cs 38 sept, pretty addicted to arbtalk, dammit... cool site, good work!
