True that. It's coming in the weekend I hear. To keep on thread you should get some out old top gear shows and watch them.
Try and figure out who the stig really is.

Like the Stihl adds on the tele.....

The stig is too short for the Shoe, he is more likely a touring Car driver. F1 guys are great in F1 cars but average in anything else, check outhe power lap time from a couple of seasons ago, they had a F1 driver on the show and he was just OK, not super human.
IMO of course..
The Stig is a "KIWI"

Only 5 months on the armour prus drew, give it a wash and you should be right for another 5.....:001_smile:
Good looking splice there mate.
Re sales to the UK, we are working with a French testing lab as we speak to get CE, its just a ceertificate as we meet all the standard for PPE but it is a process that takes time I'm sorry.
In the mean time I'm sure Drew can sort something out for you guys should you want to get in early.

How is a rope given its strength rating? any termination will decrease the strength so how is it measured with no terminations?
There are three main ways of testing a rope for strength.
1. Using lead grips on a specialized rope testing machine. These hold the rope without crushing to achieve a tensile break. The rope is wrapped around a bollard which spreads the load normally resulting in a clean break
2. Fiber testing. This is where a bunch of fibers are tested and the results used to calculate the tensile strength (This is used for very large Diameter ropes)
3. Termination break, this gives you the actual break of a rope in practice. Spliced eyes are placed in the sample then tested. This normally results is a break either in the eye or just behind the splice.
Most manufacturers will quote a testing standard on there reports which outlines which method they have used.

I just checked this out and WesSpur claim it is not splicable? Any comments on this.
12 Strand ropes can be spliced and in my experience with wire replacement ropes made from Dyneema/spectra splicing can achieve 100% of the original break load

Drew, Have a look on our web site. We have pulled together a lot of splicng vids from all over and linked them to our splicing section. The double braid splice is what has been discribed in the NE link.
Cheers

Who else uses seaside wind breaks for stump grinding shields? If nobody else admits to it I shall post a pic demonstrating the technique!
Do we still get to see the pic anyway????

Our thoughts are with you our northern friends...........
Breaking news in our local paper this morning was that the Kiwi owned Lion Nathan breweries is pulling XXXX beer from the UK and replacing with Stieny Pure.
I must say you lads are in for a treat as Pure is not a bad drop if you like largers.
I have no idea what they will do with our old dishwater "XXXX" now though?
