  1. Anyone else had problems with them?

Mine have been spot on, I've had them a couple of months now.

Oh apart from my groundy pretending he's Rosco from the Dukes of hazzard and renditions of Rubber Duck from Convy and "Houston we have a problem" is another popular one at the moment .:thumbup1:

  2. As far as I'm aware, Sodexo have an exclusive contract for all facilities management of bases for the MOD.

Sodexo are part of Forte, the biggest facilities management company in the world.

Up here Carillion run the show,Sodexo are just contracted to them, be it ground care, or catering.

There are talks within DE, to try and get all the contracts under one big umbrella, and just have one huge firm looking after the whole lot, this will probably never happen because the 3 main players all have different years left on there contracts, Landmarc alone got a 10 year contract with a possible 5 year extension, and still have 4 years left on it.

  3. Cheers

    Joe

As Mr Ed said, Landmarc support services look after the defence training estate. Carillion - who then use Sodexo to look after barrack grounds and camps. A while back, ISS waterers won a contract to maintain married quarters, gardens etc. Also if a regiment wants anything doing above and beyond the standard contract they can pay anyone themselves. I'm not sure about TA sites and this may vary a bit nationally. Hope this helps you out.

  4. Have you got an in-line clear plactic paper filter- you know, the ones that are yellow cardboard inside? If that is full of brown sludge then this is your problem: there is a bug that lives between the surface of water and (especially red) diesel. When this bug dies it leaves a brown sludge which blocks up your filters. On low revs enough fuel gets through to run nicely, on higher revs or under load there is fuel starvation. Get yourself down to a car parts place and get a bottle of additive called (i think) "Fuel Set". It is green in a clear bottle. You should put one dose in every time you fill up, but this time drain your tank, refill it and put a few doses in. The problem, if it is what i have described, comes from condensation in your diesel. It as been a problem in marine diesel for yaers, and is becoming prevelant in red diesel and even white, esp from tescos, where they buy cheap fuel which doesnt have the proper additives in it. Hop this helps.

You will obviously need new filters too if this is the problem. It looks like liquid mud in your filters.

I had the same problem in my TD5, I took the fuel pump out, and what looked like greasy sludge was hanging on the pump.

A few weeks ago my old man had the same problem on his boat, it's apparently a fungus and can be treated with this stuff as well http://http://www.silmid.com/biobor/biocide.htm )

  5. I had the same niggle with the ear-muff fitting on my helmet (vertex),they did'nt fit tight on my head at all and seemed very flimsy,so i butchered a set of peltor ear-muffs,fed them through the inside straps and they're well snug now,the only snag is there's no snap open now,i'll just have to slide them half off one ear to hear other people talk ! .

I was worried about the bluetooth side of things,(having crap handsfree stuff in the past),losing connection etc, i used them for 6 hours and no probs at all.

    Cheers Justin .:thumbup1:

  6. yeah i had checked all of that before calling still , they asked what the carb was on the first one and gave me the part number so i checked it and i had one of the dodgy carbs , i did not expect the other 4 ms200t's that i bought over the next 18 months to all have that carb and neither did i expect stihl to want the full list price for replacing them when they kbew it was a common fault with them , in future i think i will look at husky saws with a little more favor in future.

Did you buy a Husky top handle when they fist came out ?,put a lot of people off for life.

Looks like Husky may have changed .

  7. When i do that i use the saw the other way round (makes no odds though),on big stuff i angle my cut slightly down so it slides off easier and really big stuff i put a plastic wedge in on a short cord to my harness so there is less chance of the saw getting wedged before iv'e cut right through.

Looks like a very productive climber to me,do you know him or is it you?:001_smile:

  8. The first pic is when we first moved in:thumbdown:

I think that sett-up looks a lot of faff to tie up. I think that the hitchclimber vt sett-up used in its original form is the nuts and needs little if anything doing to it to make it work better. Keep it simple :001_smile:

"If its not broke dont fix it"

Maybee your right,i'll keep trying it out for a while though, here's a quick clip of the mk 1 in action, sorry about the bad neck you will get (first effort on youtube!!!) oh and wareyour shades for the T shirt:001_tongue:

  10.

I've used lockjack twin and still use the sport and not once have I had anything resembling a snag that releases it's hold, they are very safe devices :001_smile:

I'm not sure how you mean the Schwab /VT will get snagged up if it's the same sort of loop in the system as the LJ twin.:confused1:

Here's one with an extra wrap on the schwab just incase of a rouge snag and i've changed the rope for a bungee strop :001_smile:to keep everything tidier.

  11. It's not a VT but you could use one instead,i've been using this set up and it seems to work well,i doubled 2 tape slings together to get the hitch away from you (great for going up but only good for coming down if you have extra long arms to reach the knot)so i err got an old 17mm spanner, chopped it up a bit and then use this to pull the hitch down. It's a bit similar to use than the Lock Jack twin.
