Hardly a new or novel item, but well worth keeping in your glovebox-its earned its keep and got me and others out of jail, pretty much makes full size jump leads redundant. In particular it saved me so much hassle when returning from 14 days in Greece to find my elderly golf cabbies battery totally flat in the long stay airport car park. This one will start a 2l diesel at least twice and a 2l petrol mebbie 3 times I would guess.IMG_20240314_201109.thumb.jpg.100982a4718424a3f637eac1483abc92.jpgIMG_20240314_201046.thumb.jpg.b32f622517ef0985f58f4a0e7732d445.jpg

Had one of these myself, until it decided to spit the innards out along with puff of smoke while trying to start a 9hp diesel engine.

  2. Apologies if I've misspelt the above

Customer has had a letter from the fotestry commission, saying that the OPM. Has been seen in the area and he has to get his oak tree sprayed.

They are offering to do it free, but will this offer expire and does he have to have it done or can he tell them to get stuffed?

It's in a private garden and covered by a tpo

A random stop or had they set up an operation?

The weighbridge at Hatfield on the A1 is very busy now with stops. Never seems to be stopping the overloaded over width/length agri vehicles.

That's exactly where it was! They were waiting to pounce once I got on just before the Hatfield tunnel

Yeah he was probably hinting about your "woodshure" registration. ( Think that's what it's called). Licence to sell firewood. Complete bull. The police shouldn't even be thinking about policing this, or even know about it. Not a road safety matter.

Did he say he was going to report you to woodsure or do something else?

Reported for insecure load. I think as I was giving the logs away, he said no more. I genuinely was, giving them to my ex wife to keep my kids warm!

Asking about what you were doing with the wood was sinister though. Mission creep. Unless he suspects the timber is stolen or something.

I got the impression it's done kind of licence. I've been asked for this before by certain customers who refused to buy from me unless I produced it

  6. Put three bulk bags of seasoned conifer on my twin Cab iveco daily, got on a1m and was immediately asked to follow a police traffic officer to a weighbridge.

    I was 5.1% overweight!!!

He let me off that, but told me the load was unsafe as the logs were higher than the sides.

I then manually reduced said bags so loose logs were now lower than the sides.

He still wasn't happy, and insisted the load should be sheeted as if I go over a pothole, a log could jump out!

Even a load of sand has to be sheeted he reckoned!

The final sting was asking why I had them on. I told him I was giving them away, so he let me off but if I was selling them he would need to check my licence!

It's getting harder to make a living!

I'm being reported and may get prosecuted!

If it’s pushing just air into the tank then there Is no fuel in the carb to fill the bulb, so basically fuel starvation..

Yes, but primer should pump fuel into carb, but it appears to just push air into tank instead.

  8. These manufacturers need to get off their high horse about this. Their responsibilty ends when the machine leaves the factory. If people want to modify them, it's up to them, and if they have spent upwards of £25,000, they should be allowed to unchallenged. It's nothing to do with anyone else.

I can think of a certain chipper manufacturer who has threatened to sack people if they even dare to suggest to a customer that the fuel settings can be modified.

  9. Luckily, I am expert on these machines.

You have the  wrong battery. Get yourself a dry cell, odyssey pc625 battery, and mount it in its correct position underneath the engine in its housing.

Check what voltage you are getting at full revs, should be 14.5 volts. The regulators and wiring harnesses fail on these for a pastime.,  also check your earth cable is  mounted on the back of the regulator and both wires to the generator are connected properly just behind starter motor.

Depending what stress control system that machine is running you might be able to bypass the stress control by looping in the two bullet connector wires. If the feed rollers work ok with it plugged in just that the stress control doesn't then function it'll be an issue with either the stress control box or speed sensor. If it has the old grey type stress box with the built in speed sensor the control box is obsolete. However the speed sensor can be removed from the control box and is still obtainable from RS Supplies.

There is a conversion kit available from TW to upgrade the old control box to a later one with separate speed sensor. TimberWolf are always pretty helpful on the phone.

It does indeed have the old grey box, with a sensor pointing at the flywheel teeth. It has a green led on it.

I assumed this worked ok, as when the rollers do work, the no stress kicks in fine.

Be interested to see if timberwolf can upgrade but bart chipper doctor is coming out tomorrow so fingers crossed

£1800 for honda version  but there  are other 4 and 2 strokes ones for as low as under £300 -  but im guessing its abit like chainsaws you get what you pay for?

Correct. I cant comment on how good the cheaper ones are, but this is a tried and tested machine with positive feedback, built to last
