1. You could try the colleges abroad. When I was doing my ND we went over to Sweden to a place called Kvinnersta Skolan (I think!) near Orebro. They had accommodation etc and links with the local industries.
  2. I just arrived in Vancouver and love it. Apparently the winters are very wet here! But they work throughout the season. Vancouver is expensive to rent in, the cost of living is lower in Alberta so if you're looking to save money, you could consider Calgary or Edmonton. Have a look on the Davey Tree website, they were advertising in all those cities not long ago, and Nanaimo and Victoria on Vancouver Island I think.
  3. Yeah, bit harsh fellas. I'd imagine if he's bothered his arse to post on here, he's probably also asking round and looking in the phone book etc. Good luck eddgaiger, I'm sure most people will recognise you're putting the effort in, rather than just gypping you.
  4.
Cool dude, might see you out there will keep in touch!

  5.
Not too sure when I'm heading out there, but I think I'm heading to Vancouver. If I can't find work there, then Calgary will be the next stop. I think I'll be heading out there July or maybe August, I'll be finished at Uni then and haven't really got any work lined up here.

  6.
Just got a message saying that the payment had been submitted and now there just seeing if I meet there standards! I think am going to go to Calgary first looking forward to the skiing season if I get the visa, what about you? When are you thinking off going out there dude?

  7.
Same! Going into the bank tomorrow to pay though, so I can get a reciept with everything on it. Any idea where you're headed or when?

  8.
Not really that far through it yet but I just payed for the visa fees and am just eating to get through the rest! What about you?

  9. Cheers Martin, I have climbing tickets, but not really any experience, that's why I'm getting the visa and arriving, rather than trying to get a firm to bring me over. I've got plenty of groundie and felling experience, hoping to find a company who'll let me get up to speed climbing. Any luck with the visa Capstan?
  10.
Any luck with your visa mate?

  11. I'm applying for my visa today! I'll be heading to Vancouver looking for work first. Any tips for getting set up evo? I've sent plenty of CVs out but most people are just saying get the visa, turn up and start looking.
  12. My god, I hope you survived mate. The Metro Centre is a brutal place to spend the day!

Wanting to relocate! And just waiting for you all to bombard with me advice/job offers/contacts etc. But seriously, anyone any experience/ideas at all? I have an ND, will have a BSc Forestry in June, CS up to 39 for arb and 32/34 forestry. Plenty of ground work experience, though very little climbing. Thanks guys
  14. Not for the sake of shaming, but so other people don't get stung. Me and a mate did a few days work for someone advertising the work on here. That was about a month ago and still waiting to be paid. He's let me down several times, promising to drop the money off, send a cheque, but nothing. Even sent him letters/invoices, and now considering small claims court. I'm studying and actually had to spend money I didn't have anyway, putting fuel in the car to get to the jobs. Is it worth naming him on here? There's plenty of other students in the area, wouldn't want anyone else ending up in the same boat.
  15. Luckily he didn't use straight petrol! But I'm starting to wonder how accurately the two stroke was mixed. Lesson learned! Thanks folks.
