has anybody got the info on chain sizes, pitch and gauges for the various bars and chainsaw sizes. ive got an ms460 an ms260 and ms200s plus an 084 a load of various chain on spool but all my bars have the info worn off plus if anybody can match up the minimum and maximum advised for the different stihl saws i think it would be a good guide for all of us.
i know its on the manuals and the boxes but it would be good if i could collate a the info on one piece of paper cheers

Cheers for the info Bob.
did you take multi shots of the beetle and grub and then delete, Or are these first timer shots?
Prices seem to vary greatly, Ive seen the Ixus for £199 here at http://www.camerabox.co.uk/product1.asp?ProductID=3874
did you get it for a good price?
i got the camera case and 4 gig card for £240 including delivery
and shots i took about 10 in all im still getting use to the settings and the little devils kept movin it the wind plus its touch more difficult to get good focus on macro

for a tow behind its gotta be a timberwolf but for usable brute force i loved my pto exenco gravity fed on the back of the old david brown tractor it brings the words fire and forget to the world of arb it didnt break down except for the occasional welding and always a pleasure to use...... not very health and safety pc but very good all the same

kinlochewe to torridon beautiful lanscapes either side of the road

another one is after youve got the certs its not to hard to get into the agencys you could try total tree care they dont pay great money and you have to provid your own kit but you would get lots of experience, if you get in with the right company and your prepaird to learn you ll do well and they may take you on. one thing is to remember when you do finally get going some of the guys out there have been doin the buisness a long time and theyve earned there strips the hard way, pick there brains about everything and i mean everything all the mistakes your going to make theyve made them or seen them and they will steer you clear of you faults and improve you knowledge exponentially all the lads we had have gone on and are doin well except about three who thought they were the best thing since sliced bread because they could fell a conifer straight or that they knew a few knots that you didnt just listen and you ll do well

lee may have my guts for garters for this but i pretty much follow his recipe and add some tomato sauce if its not tomatoy enough sorry mate but the kids like the sauce

ive been up there a few times if you can id try and head up to torridon its beautiful. If you fancy a little walking you can do no better than a ramble around the back of beinn eighe there is a 1000 foot cliff face i climbed when i was a lot younger. If you fancy something a little less rough on the legs you could wander up to inverewe gardens there quiet famous and on the telly sometimes. He you google both places you should get good directions have a good holiday matey

a good start is to get your nptc cs30,31 38,39 these should get you a foot in the door and will only start you as a trainee its a quick learnig curve at the start and if you get with a good firm that gives you loads of experience within around 3-4 years you should be competent with some people its a little shorter and some its a lot longer depending on your aptitude but seen as youve got a sound knowledge of working with ropes and harnesses you may progress quickly i myself started with rock climbing in the late 70s when i was a young boy. if you do get a few knock backs stick with it and you will get the rewards. this it the best job in the world its hard work you get saw dust every where you go and you smell like a rugby players jock strap after work but its worth it

i think theres a difference between being cheap and being competertive you pikies are very cheap and sometimes they take every thing away from the site but joe bloggs doesnt aways realise that its going to be dumped around the corner turning up to price a job dressed well and being competertive shows you know what you are doing are that you are going to carry out the work in a professional manor this can sway a few quid here and there in your favor. Its a case of are you going to buy your beans at aldi and have a bitter after taste or are you going to buy then at asda.
-
just things that are no nos that certainly wont get you another job and some that will give you a head start once your foots in the door i know christreeroot gives leaflets out to inform potential clients on good arb practices it shows good will , you know what i mean anyway dont you ?
-
i have some tips that i personally work to is there any more out there that i dont know about
1. Most important LEAVE THE SITE CLEAN
The client most probably doesnt know anything about arb but they do know a dirty site when they see one
2. Dont swear on site
3. Wear all your ppe, no jeans, hivee vests if needed, helmets and if youve got them wear corperate tee shirts
4. Be polite and informative dont loose your temper what ever
5. Try to leave a land based number as well as a mobile
6. Try as hard as possible not to damage any plants

File sizes are fine if you reduce your image size to 800 by 600 and save as a jpeg does it for me
