If you cant get a peddle with land rover brakes, jack one end up & leave it over night. The air moves to the high point in the system.

I wonder if the flanges will interchange, I could swap my studded flanges for the others??
It's an 02 discovery the replacement axle would be from, not sure what series that would be.
Not sure about swapping over the studded flanges. You may find some more answers here. http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?http://forums.lr4x4.com/
An 02 discovery is a series 2.
Hope that helps

Me and my mate are going to convert it the evenings next week, might extend my defender chassis a little to get some extra length and if I feel extremely mad might stick another axle on to use the 10 foot length. will only ever be loading chip but will upgrade suspension to same as hi-cap pickup. Also how to you get the gross weight increased / re-plated.
If you modify the chassis in any way you will need to get the vehicle SVA'd, before you can legally use it on the road.

The PCD of the studs if different between Defender axles and Series 2 Disco axles, so your wheels wont fit.
For removing snapped half shafts these come highly recommended. http://www.x-eng.co.uk/X-Shaft.asp?MID=33 No need to pull the shaft on the other side.

Dont rush your cuts, take your time. Run through your cuts with the saw switched off before you start to check your in the best position.

I not drinking tonight because as soon as i crack open a beer or two the phone will ring & ill have another tree to deal with.
-
I was having a nice relaxing morning welding my mates land rover, when the phone rang. It was my mate I subbie for, saying there was an ash tree blocking part of road.
I chucked my gear in the defender & met him on site. We cleared the road & were discussing what we were doing next when there was a load crack. We watched a large beech bow (20" dia) brake off the trunk & fall in slow motion of the 20 foot cliff it was on & totally block the road, which we'd driven up 10 minutes before.
We ended up with the police closing the road for us, while we spent the rest of the day making safe & clearing the road.
It was a Scout Campsite we were working for, they have lost about 10 trees this weekend in the wind. We've still got to go back & clear 3 for them off camping fields.
so how did you spend your bank holiday?

Yeah the new forces torniquet is good, also the clotting powder if you can get hold of it. We only used to get it when you arrived in Iraq or Afghan.
As a trained battlefield medic it makes me wonder sometimes why we only carry your average first aid kit in the land rovers. A plaster and a small bandage isn't much good on a chainsaw wound!
Try these

They are a top company to deal with & carry a large amount of first aid equipment.

bump......how are you expected to clip yourself to the victim these days in an assessment?
Just done my assessment, we used a spare prussik loop & a three way krab. we found the best way was to girth hitch the prussik loop to your bridge, pass the krab through the victims bridge & clip it back to your bridge. This meant you couldnt drop the prussik loop as your fumbling round up the tree.

Cheers Guys
hey man nice one congrats still waiting to do mine what are the nervs like on the test dayNo real nervs on the test day. One thing I will say is read up on your assessment schedule, because there lots of questions to answer.
Theres no real need to rush, take it at a steady pace. You've got plenty of time. Make sure u strop on at your change overs & test your new anchors before removing your strop.
We had to do 2 rescuse one was a casualty with an undamaged rope & the other was a casulaty with a damaged rope.
Hope that helps mate

its just taken 2 hours to drive from stafford to manchester all because of rubber neckers trying to look at an accident on the southbound carrigeway. :
You should try living in Stafford. Had to nip into town to pick some fuel up & then go & collect a trailer. Every road was solid, local knowledge came into it's own again.

You may find all your kit needs to be LOLER inspected for you to use it on a course. Ive seen this stipulated by some Training Schools.

we also used to keep a list of any allergies, special requirements for each emloyee.
Thats a very good idea, there are so many people out there with allergies these days. These include recations to medication as well as plasters etc.
