  1. Help i have been asked to price a job for a new client which involves cutting just under a hectare of coppice and delivering the product into a stack site 5 miles away.he has asked for a cubic meter rate based on 50%of the stack measure i.e if the stack measures 200 cubic meters he will pay for 100 cube. have any of you worked under this system ? i have in mind what the job is worth and i also have in mind a price i would be charging per tonne however there is no local wieghbridge. if i am honest i dont like this method but maybee some of you have used it before ? thanks will

  7. thanks ed i am going fot site meet on thurs i will get some snaps, my concern with 12 tonners is when we are in the coppice, being to large. re the scrub its all on sssi site and spec is to hand cut and winch of , the usual nonsense ant hills ect ect ! i am very familiar with the larger 360 as i spent 7 years driving 12-20 tonners putting in deep drainage and cutting new roads, mainly jcb and hitachi.just not much experince of the smaller machines.
  8. moving it is not a prob i have accesse to a chieftan to go behind valmet.budget around 9-10 k for machine. uses basicaly what i cant do with valmet/loader and botex already. one job on the edge of a marsh we would use it for burning at a fire site where we are winching to. no good for tractor/loader. in the coppice sites for grading/ stacking timber in winter for spring extraction .re-grading tracks, oh and a bit of digging.
  9. have any of you got 5.5 ton or 6 ton machines you are using ? i have quite a lot of scrub clearnace and coppicing to do this winter and was looking at getting a 5.5 ton hyundai maybee that i could fit a grapple with rotator on.any views experinces pictures that may help. i am reluctant to go for a bigger machine as size may be an issue in the coppice sites. thanks will
  10. i was talking to them about a chipping job and they tell me they are taking delivery of a new chipper on a lorry very soon. i have peter lord coming to do it now as they couldnt be sure of delivery date for there chipper.peters large jenz is a fantastic machine.
  11. Yeah it was cosmetic damage only, quite right stevie we had it sorted with a rake what the photo cant show is the slopes we had to winch up and down quite an interesting job. The igland is not to bad i should have on reflection gone for a bigger one as mine is a 55 but with blocks we can pull mostly what we want, well built for the money.
  12. you cant make an omelette without breaking a few eggs !
  13. thanks joe, i used to run a scania 8 wheeler which was a lovely thing but as work changed i had a job to justify it, the beauty of more modern tractors is that they are so versatile
  14. here is my valmet doing various tasks, it has proved so handy i wished i had bought one years ago!
  15. i had run 7.5 tonners and chippers for 12 years, until last year when i switched one gang over to a mog a chipper. i have to say it is probably the best move i have made, the advantages are amazing. sure mogs do need looking after but i had 50k tied up in a cargo and bandit so i could afford to put some good dollar toward my unimog. the whole outfit is much more manouverable can go any where is cheap to run and looks good! i still run the other gang with a canter and chipper and they do have there place on long range runs ect but if i had to choose i would keep the unimog for sure. oh we have landrovers too and i like them also!
  16. Sorry to hear about that ed, i had my quad stolen last sunday night but i had a pretty good idea where it would be and went and retrieved it on monday morning !
  17. do any of you have one of these or have used one just wondering what they are like? thanks will
