  1. Actually, its a 'self feeding drum chipper' as opposed to a hydraulic feed drum chipper.

I'd love the HSE to actually explain what they mean by that statement....

yeh, they get all confused with this one and say...."well, there's no way to make it safe so dont use it"

I say, "my saws sharp too so id better not use that either !"

I say " stick to your nice little office job, pension, 3 bed detached and moaning wife and 28 days holiday" meanwhile ill live more in one day than you will in your life !!!

  2. I think that if your company carried out work on contruction sites then you would need a cis card, I don't know if you would need one if it was just a one off job.

I think it was to stamp out cash in hand and making sure all monies paid was declared to HMCAE.

This is correct. Its changed again now though ! I have one and when I sub for big firms, they take my card details and deduct the tax for me ! Outrage !

  3. I dare'nt post it on here, steve would have eggs ! Its mad, takes 0.8 sec to suck the whole lot through, Helmet, gloves, trousers boots and jacket ! I made it as an experiment to see what protection said items would give if you really f+^£@ed up ! ! Ill dig it out sometime ! :scared: :scared: :scared:

  4. They did have a faulty batch which went around the zip but if you take them back they will exchange them.

Yes, mine went round the zip, the whole crutch actually ! Shame, I made an amusing youtube video of them going through my chipper on a mannequin ! It got so many complaints the HSE rang me and asked me to remove it ! some people got no sense o humour !!!

  5. Your opinion is well regarded because:

    1) your not trying to sell me one

    2) You run Mogs and clearly are a pro'

This is what I like about this forum.....really usefull info, not making crappy smalltalk about un-related non work issues !

    ta

  6. Is being stoned whilst operating dangerous machinery or whilst doing a job in which your actions could kill your workmates or a member of the public, acceptable or not. Yes or no

    Simple really.

    No

No...I cant beleive were even discussing this ! whatever next ?...should arborsts adopt sharia law !!!????? :scared:

  7. HMRC seem to pick more on people who do their own books. The few people I know who have been investigated did their own..and in one case had a knock on effect for all those who employed (the idiot) in question, by being summoned down the tax office for "interview", after finding out that he wasnt declaring much.

Tax investigations are horrid and go through your (and possibly others) entire finances digging up everything they can.

Thats why I use an account.

I used to do my own books....then one day I got a bill for 57K...with 28 days to pay....I got a top accountant on it...he saved me 50K for a bill of 340 quid ! Nuff said.
