Hi Mike,
Well you'll definately want an Alaskan 48" horozontal mill (£180-00) and if you're thinking of doing posts and beams you'll also want a vertical mini mill (£85-00) to go with a smaller saw.
I've tried all various ripping chains as follows is what I've found - full comp Oregon is a good all round slightly cheaper chain (£0.27 drive link), Oregon skip link chain is good for ripping softwood quickly but will leave a rougher finish (£0.30 drive link), Stihl ripping chain I've not tried but would say good but again rougher finish, Granberg is fast in all wood and leaves a smooth finish but is more expensive (£0.40 drive link),
