Alright Josh,
You could do that. Much better though would be to buy a circular saw, screw a straight edge onto your plank and mill 2" by 2" with that. You should be a able to get a circular saw to go up to 4" but if not certainly 3.5". This will be much faster and more accurate. Let me know if this makes sense.
